Buddhist Therapists in London
Something has brought you here. Maybe it’s stress that won’t let up, anxiety that has made the world feel smaller or a loss that has changed the shape of things. Maybe you’re not sure exactly what it is - only that something needs to shift. I work with adults navigating stress and anxiety, grief and loss, trauma and the harder chapters of life. Many of the people I see are functioning on the outside while carrying something heavier underneath - tired in a way sleep doesn’t fix, holding it together but not quite themselves.

I’m a qualified counsellor, group therapy facilitator and complementary health practitioner, with over 30 years of experience supporting people through life’s ups and downs. I trained in Counselling and Addiction at the University of Bath, and I bring not only my professional knowledge but also a wealth of real-life experience to my sessions.
Sometimes life just feels too heavy. We can find ourselves worrying, feeling stuck, or battling with fears we don’t quite understand. In those moments, talking to someone outside of our usual circle can be a real gift—someone who will truly listen without judgement.
That’s where I can help.

I am a psychotherapist specialising in couples and family relationships. Difficulties in relationships are not unusual and do not necessarily mean a relationship is failing. I offer a calm and supportive space to understand patterns that develop between people over time and to explore new ways of relating. I work using Transactional Analysis alongside developmental and systemic thinking, helping couples and families make sense of conflict, disconnection and emotional pain with greater understanding and less blame. I also offer focused in-person couples intensives for those wanting to work more deeply within a structured timeframe.

I understand that seeking therapy can be both comforting and daunting, but it can also be liberating and I commend individuals who reach out for help. Our pain can often be a message that there is something amiss in our lives, and I believe it is important that we listen to that message. Whether you are dealing with a difficult time in your life and need help managing the emotions and thoughts, I aim to assist individuals to better understand the relationship between their feelings and thoughts and explore ways to change maladaptive patterns.

I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity to reach their full potential and I am dedicated to walking alongside individuals on their journey of self-healing

I’m Matt, I’m a qualified therapist and counsellor. I’m a real human and will bring my warmth, humour, care, honesty and acceptance to our sessions. I am specialised in the person-centred approach, which puts our relationship at the centre of therapy. We will work together to understand you, to help you process and to help you feel better within yourself.
Who you choose as your therapist is a really personal choice. Probably the most important aspect of therapy is a good relationship between the therapist and the client. Really it’s about who you like, who you connect with and crucially who you feel that you can trust.

It's understandable that seeking psychological support can feel daunting, especially for those who feel forced to adopt a public persona, are apprehensive about judgement or have a demanding schedule. Many of my clients, including those not familiar with accessing therapy, people concerned about privacy, and those with a public profile, find that online psychotherapy offers a convenient solution.
Whether you're considering therapy for the first time or giving it a second chance after a previous experience, I'm here to provide tailored support that fits into your life, including availability of evening sessions if preferred.

Therapy is a process, a time dedicated towards growth and self-knowledge. To start therapy is not an easy step, so welcome! Sometimes stigma and social views towards mental health can be an obstacle in making the decision to start this process. If you are reading this, you may agree that whom is seeking therapy is suffering for a (very personal) reason and this is motivating to find the support you need to overcome your concerns and predicaments in life.

Choosing a therapist can be a stressful process, and it's difficult to decide which kind of therapy to try. Many people find it helpful to work with a therapist who has trained in more than one therapy, who can switch to a different therapy when needed, and who can tailor sessions according to your needs. My 16 years experience in supporting neurodivergent clients (with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia or other difficulties) led me to further training in 2021 in autism, and specialised CBT and ACT for ADHD and emotional regulation problems.

I work with individuals to identify the underlying patterns shaping their lives, often outside conscious awareness.
Drawing on an integrative framework that includes psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking, Internal Family Systems (parts work), Jungian perspectives, CBT-informed behavioural restructuring, hypnotherapy, and trauma-focused approaches, I am able to rapidly detect the structures driving anxiety, stagnation, or repeated life difficulties.

Are you someone who feels held back in life?
You want something different and you've tried - but you keep hitting the same hurdles.
Now you're exhausted, telling yourself you can't, or that it's just not going to work for you.
So you hide, make yourself small, and second-guess everything, while you wait to feel ready.
But that moment never comes.
That inner critic tells you you’re not enough, you’re not ready, or that you’ll fail anyway.
Feeling stuck doesn't mean you're not ready, and feeling "not good enough" doesn't make it true.
