I have worked with people of all ages, and clients dealing for a range of concerns, including bereavement, anxiety, self-esteem, and identity issues.
I have trained in existential psychotherapy, and I apply this in my work with clients. The starting point is the experience of the client, to provide the opportunity for them to examine their understanding of life, and the problems and dilemmas they face; to reassess their goals and desires. It provides an opportunity to consider how their choices have been constrained, perhaps by the views and expectations of others, but also by constraints rooted in our society. Understanding can lead to questioning, and growth, possibly in new directions.

Therapy is not about fixing you. It is about understanding you and your lived experience with care and compassion. You do not need to be in crisis to begin. Therapy can offer a consistent space to explore what feels difficult, gain clarity, and reconnect with yourself. As a South Asian therapist, I recognise the cultural and emotional barriers that can make reaching out feel daunting. If you are unsure where to begin, that is okay. You do not have to face this alone. Now is the time to prioritise your wellbeing.

Sometimes we just need someone to talk to, outside of our immediate circle, who will listen without judgement. There are so many reasons why we seek counselling and for each person these reasons may change over time. Whilst counselling for one person may be about releasing and being heard, for someone else it may be to work on the past or for another to work on current challenges or towards a future goal. Driven by the nature of our work together, I employ creative and/or practical methods, depending on your preferences and what you feel you need from your sessions. As each client’s needs vary, so does the therapy that I provide.

Born in the North of England, I emigrated to Australia with my family as a child, returning after a few years. I left for London in my late teens. My dyslexia, and not fitting in, had left me feeling as if I couldn’t learn and would have few job opportunities. In my town, I had two options: hairdressing or nuclear shipbuilding. I chose cutting hair and talking to human beings about their relationships. Working in West End salons, listening to clients’ stories, raising 4 children, and living with my husband with a terminal illness, gave me a deep understanding of human dynamics so I decided to retrain as a counsellor.

There are times in our lives when we feel that no one understands or is interested in what is going on for us. We can be left feeling misunderstood and uncared for. Talking about what is going on for us can be very difficult because it is not easy to find someone we can trust. I offer a person-centred approach but also use a holistic approach to therapy, this aids with focuses on an individual’s self-worth and values. I believe that being valued as a person, without the fear of being judged can help an individual to accept who they are and help reconnect with themselves with the people and things that are precious to them.

You might be feeling anxious, low, grieving a loss, at a turning point—or just not yourself.
I have a particular interest in working with people experiencing grief and bereavement. That kind of pain can feel isolating—but you don't have to go through it alone. I’m here to offer companionship as we move through the process together, at your pace. I have a trauma informed approach, and neurodivergence is another area of interest.

I have a particular interest in working with shame, grief and family trauma.
I originally trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the 1980's and then worked as an actor for many years: over the last 22+ years my life started to take a different turn and I now enjoy working as a counsellor with individual clients.
As an Integrative Transpersonal Counsellor I draw together different approaches whilst offering therapy with soul - looking beyond the immediate problem, or symptom to work in ways that honour each client's deeper journey.
For me therapy has meant a chance to revisit old stories and beliefs whilst gaining fresh insights and understandings.

I specialise in anxieties and mood disorders, with a special interest in trauma and grief.
You might feel stuck that nothing ever changes. Time continues to tick unrelentingly, your background shifts and changes, but you remain the same. You seem to repeat the same dynamics with colleagues, friends and loved ones. Isolated in who you don't want to be. Life repeats itself without you, and you know it could be different, but you don't become who you know you can be. You might experience anxieties that overwhelm and dominate. You might suffer from recurring depressions, sedating your will for life and drain any potential for joy. Together we can bring about that change.

Come as you are – especially the parts you’ve had to hide. All of you is welcome here.
Maybe you’ve been holding things together for a long time – or trying to – but something doesn’t feel right. You can’t always name it, but it’s there: the unease, the heaviness, the sense that something’s missing. Maybe you’re tired of playing a role and not knowing who you are underneath it all. Maybe you feel lost, disconnected or unsure how to share parts of yourself you’ve always kept hidden. Maybe you’ve got things to say that you’ve never found the right person to share them with.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
