I know from experience that it can be hard to know where to start, and to take the first step. Especially if feeling uncertain, vulnerable or anxious. I welcome you to contact me for an initial chat. We can figure things out from there.

As a practitioner that has ADHD themselves, I have had overcome all aspects of anxiety and practice the very tools I now teach others.
The world facing our children and young people today is an extremely complicated one. Dealing with an unpredictable, and at times, chaotic environment, can test our mental and physical systems. The seeds of worry can be sown in a myriad of ways but nearly always ends up with the young person internalising their problems, which then manifest in increasingly problematic ways such as OCD, Tics, Self-Harming, and body image issues. Underlying all of these symptoms is a powerfully negative view of themselves which, if unchecked, can become overwhelming.

I help those struggling with the emotional and psychological difficulties which undermine their enjoyment of life; and also those who simply want to better understand what makes them ‘tick’. Perhaps you are asking yourself: why am I in such a poor relationship, feeling anxious, behaving in a way which is causing problems, experiencing low mood? or sensing a disconnection from yourself, others, or the life you wish you could lead? If so then I am here to help and support you in making the changes that you need, and help you to understand how and why these issues have come into your life.

I work with a variety of psychological and mental health issues; trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, relationship, couple and family issues.
You may feel you want a space to reflect, think about and explore what is going on in your life. Maybe you've come to therapy to try and work through some difficulties from the past or make sense of what's happening in your life currently. Maybe you're not sure what you want from therapy but you know you want to talk to someone who is outside of your situation, non-judgmental, empathetic and confidential.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, divorce, breakup, family issues or loss, counselling can be incredibly helpful and healing. We all require some support at a stage in our lives, and feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or lost is nothing to feel ashamed of, but can leave you wanting and searching for more. Helping to raise awareness of your experience in the present, I can facilitate and support your process towards developing a new unique perspective. I believe by incorporating the cognitive, physical and emotional experience, we can reach a deeper, more meaningful understanding of ourselves.

Typically, I work with people struggling with anxiety, despair, anger, and shame; who wrestle with guilt, mistrust, addiction, and dissociation; who are self-critical, self-destructive, and trapped in repeated patterns of hurting self/others. Such feelings, behaviours, and patterns of relating often stem from multiple, complex life events and circumstances, including past/present abusive and neglectful relationships, discrimination, bereavement, trauma, gender expectations, parenthood, study/work/financial pressures, and more existential challenges such as one's relationship to meaning, responsibility, authenticity, and mortality.

Among others, I can help with depression, anxiety, anger, stress, relationships, feeling stuck, lack of confidence, bereavement, trauma, racial trauma, the mental impact of the (peri)menopause.
Would you like emotional support - but find that talking is not always easy? I offer a warm, safe and collaborative space where you can explore your concerns through talking and/or the use of art materials. As an integrative counsellor I base my approach on a variety of psychological methods, enabling me to offer broad-spectrum, personalised treatments. Sessions are client-led; meaning I am guided by your needs, and tend to be a mix of talking and creativity. Don't worry! Art making is optional. Also, you do not need to be 'good' at art. The opposite: the more spontaneous and 'unfinished' your creation, often the more therapeutic.

I believe that therapy can help you see your current situation in a new light, with more depth and clarity. It can change unhelpful perspectives and feelings about yourself and your life, and ultimately help you make positive changes. It might be the most important and satisfying journey that you will ever make. Most of my clients are either dealing with a parental wound, childhood trauma, relationship problems, difficult endings, or are professionals challenged by stress, anxiety and/or low mood. I also help clients with addiction and attachment issues and those with couple and family difficulties.

It can take a huge amount of courage to reach out and ask for help and often people can feel uncertain about how asking for help will be received or worry about not being believed or taken seriously. I aim to listen to your concerns non-judgementally and with compassion to collaboratively identify areas that you wish to work on. Together, we would explore your goals, consider how parts of your life may be impacting on you and identify how to move forward in a way that feels meaningful and makes sense to you. My work is influenced by a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT, ACT and CFT.
