Hi, welcome to my profile - let’s see if you think I can help. I believe that in order to overcome life’s challenges and achieve the sense of well-being you desire in life, developing a strong self-awareness is essential. I have an interest in helping you understand how your early relationships with parents, carers, family and peers can shape how you relate to the world around you at present. I have experience of helping those who have faced depression, anxiety, low self-worth; identity issues, drug addiction and
anger
problems understand how they can be connected to thoughts and feelings that developed in early life.

I work with couples and individuals. Specialising in relationships,
anger
, self-esteem issues, addictions and emotional difficulties, I help you have a better relationship with others as well as yourself. I work with you to explore and understand your struggles, repeating patterns and find ways to change them or adapt them to make them helpful. Couples tend to argue in a cyclic nature without ever resolving their arguments. I work with couples to understand this cycle and how to exit it. Individuals can also get stuck in repeating patterns. Examining them, understanding them and working through them brings change.

More specifically, I aim to enable you to: Face your fears and anxiety about the future, resolve trauma, deal with abusive relationships, deal with the loss of a loved one, explore the impact of childhood events, deal with feelings of loneliness, adjust to a chronic health condition, deal with
anger
, explore issues relating to race, culture and identity.
How often do you find yourself thinking..... I don't know who I am any more'....'I just want to feel normal again'....'I feel angry all the time'...'I am a born worrier'... Most of the time we think that we feel this way because of events such as stress at work, problems in relationship, a loss (relationship, financial, job) or bereavement. Whatever the reason, over time you may find yourself thinking 'there must be more to life than this'. Counselling provides a confidential, non-judgemental space where I facilitate a process of self-awareness and understanding and where you feel safe to openly share what is affecting you.

I have experience in working with clients on a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, life-transitions, childhood sexual abuse, identity, relationship problems, race and diversity,
anger
, body-image, perfectionism, shame, low self-esteem and loneliness.
All of us can encounter moments in our lives where our habitual ways of doing things don’t seem to work any longer and we get stuck. Counselling can help working through these difficulties, by becoming aware of what we do and how we do it and whether our ways of thinking or doing things are helpful or not. This awareness is the foundation for change and together we can find new perspectives and kinder ways of engaging with yourself, that enable you to experiment with a wider variety of choices and support you leading a happier and more satisfying life.

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
