I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor that works with Children and Young People from ages 3-18 As a Psychodynamic Counsellor I believe that unconscious processes guide our ways of relating to each other. At the centre of my practice is the child’s well-being and safety. I aim to create a safe space for children to feel able to be themselves without judgment, what Winnicott refers as the 'facilitating environment’, where the child’s inner world can be explored.

I'm enthusiastic about helping people make a noticeable difference in their lives. Offering a refreshing blend of warm compassion, humour (when appropriate!) and straight talk, together we'll navigate your challenges and build strategies that work for You. As your supportive guide, I'll show how therapy can be a powerful tool for growth and self-discovery. I know taking the first step towards positive change can be daunting and courageous, but you don't have to go through it alone. I realise it's hard knowing how to choose a therapist from so many capable people, so I offer a free consultation to help your decision-making process.

Maybe a recent life event is changing how you are in the world. Maybe a past event needs to be worked on and understood. Maybe you do not feel yourself and are suffering with a change in mood and outlook. If you are experiencing difficult and overwhelming feelings, we can work through them together. You will have a space to find some understanding and relief from what is happening to you, without being judged. Family and friends often try and give advice and make us feel better, but sometimes this is not what is needed and does not help. Counselling and psychotherapy can offer a different approach.

Finding the right therapist is like trying to find the perfect puzzle piece for your life. It's not always easy, and I get that. I understand the struggle and the importance of connecting with someone who really "gets" you. Life can throw all sorts of curveballs, and talking about it with someone can be a game-changer. Picture me as a friendly guide on this journey – someone who listens without judgment, and is genuinely interested in your story.

For the past ten years I have been helping individuals, couples and families with mental health difficulties. My professional journey includes over 8 years of NHS practice, big chunk of it dedicated to helping those on psychiatric wards. Now I work mainly in my private practice. Typical problems that I have experience treating include depression, anxiety, OCD, adjustment difficulties, trauma/PTSD, stress and relationship difficulties. I see psychotherapy as a personal journey, a chance to get to know yourself better, a safe space to explore and to grow. My interests lie in a human, in embodied experience and in the process.

I offer a safe and collaborative space to explore with you the feelings, thoughts and behaviours that you experience with your issue. Together we will develop an understanding of how these affect you, and what keeps them going. We will work to develop and practice a 'toolkit' of techniques that you can continue to use, to encourage more healthy ways of thinking and responding, to gain better control and emotional balance to reach your therapy goal. I can work with you on issues such as general anxiety, feeling 'stuck', depression, low confidence and self esteem, and social anxiety.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
