Trauma and PTSD Counselling in West London
I am qualified in CBT, Neurolinguistic Therapy, ACT, and EMDR and hold British Psychological Society approved training for depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD and Panic disorders.
I am a UKCP Registered Clinical Psychotherapist and have been in Clinical Practice since 2003. I am down to earth, friendly and believe therapy is a collaborative process - my job is to help you find in a way that works for you not somebody else. No one type of therapy suits everyone so I deliberately integrate a number of approaches into my work to suit each individual's needs. I know life can be tough and sometimes overwhelming so offer a place where we can talk about what is most difficult so we can make sense of it for you. I offer in person and online therapy (using Zoom or Teams).

I also draw on principles of Gestalt and Jungian psychoanalysis and work with dreams, daydreams and fantasy.

Exploring current life issues, we often find them rooted in past trauma from abuse, neglect or rejection.
Does the shadow of past experiences affect your current life through self-doubt, self-sabotage, intrusive thoughts? Do you feel stuck in a rut? Through collaboratively and creatively working together, we will explore the situations and circumstances in which you keep finding yourself and shed light on why the same old unhelpful patterns are being repeated. The therapeutic process develops your capacity for deep self-reflection, self-awareness and fosters the commitment to meeting yourself. It is the journey to self-compassion, forgiveness and healing; 'psycho-therapy' in the truest sense, the 'healing of our soul'. A 'Coming Home'.

At the centre of my practice is the importance of humans and other beings. The role I want to play in psychology is to promote social connectedness, positive emotions and meaning in all members of the community, not just those with mental illness. During our lives we are on journey of learning, at times what we experience does not match what we pictured life would be like, this creates conflict within many of us, and we become afraid. When we become afraid we stray from what can be a happier life. But step by step, we can overcome our fears with clarity of mind.

I work with people under pressure: stress, anxiety, burnout and trauma.
You probably have a sense of what’s going on - but finding a way through it can feel daunting. Maybe a specific issue has been dragging on longer than you’d like. Or maybe it’s vaguer, and you sense persistent anxiety or low mood that won’t shift.
On the outside, you keep showing up for work, for family, for responsibilities. You’re effective and driven. But internally, you feel tense, numb, reactive, or stuck.
If you’ve reached the point where you want things to change, we can work out the next steps together.

Childhood trauma related issues, family dynamics, loss, grief or noticing the unmanageability of parts of your life.
Having experience working with addiction and trauma, alongside talking therapy, I often introduce art materials to explore the unconscious. Using visualisations, metaphor & story telling, body and movement. Having experience of using art materials is not a requirement, having an open mind is. I offer a non judgemental space for us to work in collaboration.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed with an intercultural understanding.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, unseen, or at a crossroad in life. Many of my clients are driven, thoughtful, and deeply committed to what they do, but are quietly navigating exhaustion, self-doubt and loneliness, feeling things need to change.
At times it’s difficult to identify when repeated patterns that don’t seem to be working anymore could be related to difficult experiences from childhood and how they can still quietly shape how you feel about yourself and others.
I work with many people who are in life transitions and needing support to adapt or find different ways with more clarity, including moving to a different country.

Everything we do, however painful or seemingly nonsensical has its roots in something from our experiential life, having served a purpose for us at some point. Though, they may lose their effectiveness over time. Together, we could look at some of these processes, and explore what can be done to start to let these go.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
