I am very mindful of how difficult finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with can be and I offer a calm and compassionate approach, while we gain an understanding of your concerns. My primary therapeutic method is ‘psychodynamic’ but I draw on a variety of ‘models’ to help in whichever way is appropriate: These may include CBT or EFT. Once we have revealed, talked-through and understood the root causes of your concerns we can examine ways of dealing with the issues and moving forward. This is a very much a joint effort where we work together to help you through the troublesome episode and out the other side.

I support clients experiencing anxiety, OCD, intrusive thoughts, depression, emotional dysregulation, executive dysfunction, low self-esteem, and difficulties with boundaries and relationships.
You may have spent years feeling different, emotionally overwhelmed, or exhausted from trying to keep up with other people’s expectations. Perhaps you are a neurodivergent young adult or a woman who received a later-in-life autism or ADHD diagnosis and is now trying to make sense of years of masking, people-pleasing, anxiety, burnout, or self-doubt.
Many neurodivergent people grow up feeling misunderstood or disconnected from themselves, often learning to hide their needs to feel accepted. Over time, this can lead to chronic stress, intrusive thoughts, anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional exhaustion, and difficulty trusting yourself.

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." Life can be difficult at times and we tend to experience our greatest challenges when what we are doing is very different from what we would like to be doing. Sometimes our relationships might not be fulfilling or work can seem pointless or unsatisfactory. This can manifest in distressing thoughts, painful feelings and unhelpful behaviours. Our work together will help you to live a more rich and meaningful life.

Anxiety is a natural part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can stop you from doing what matters most—perhaps spending time with loved ones, trying new experiences, or simply feeling at ease. In an effort to cope, it's easy to fall into patterns that make anxiety worse, leaving you feeling stuck or isolated. You might build walls to protect yourself from disappointing others or feeling embarrassed, but those same walls can push people away, leaving you more disconnected. My approach is centered on creating a compassionate, safe space where we can explore the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are holding you back.

Success is often depicted as a series of milestones achieved through talent, hard work, and perseverance. Yet, there’s a hidden dimension to success that goes beyond external accomplishments. The "secret language of success" includes understanding and overcoming personal emotional challenges that can impede our progress. Every successful individual has faced various personal challenges. Typically, the impact of such challenges goes unnoticed for quite some time. Anxiety can make it hard for us to focus and perform. Depression can cast a shadow over our aspirations. Low self-esteem and self-doubt can inhibit our confidence.

While I enjoy working with clients facing a wide range of difficulties, I have a particular interest in anxiety, OCD and trauma
My interest in psychotherapy, spirituality and meditation began after the end of my marriage several years ago, which like many other types of losses, triggered a lot of suffering. Life transition, family and friends losses, the breakup of long-term relationships, stress, anxiety and depression are all part of human suffering. However, we have an innate capability, which we can strengthen, that allows us to navigate and, more importantly, learn from our most difficult life experiences.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
