My clients are thoughtful individuals who may appear to be coping well on the outside but internally feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained. They may struggle with anxiety, low mood, trauma, stress, or relationship difficulties. Many are navigating demanding careers, life transitions, or repeating emotional patterns that leave them feeling frustrated or disconnected. They are seeking a safe space to reflect, gain insight, and develop practical tools to manage challenges. Ultimately, they want to feel more balanced, confident, and aligned with the life they want to create.

Hi, I’m Gabrielle, a qualified and registered Integrative Psychotherapist with a psychodynamic focus, and my private practice is called Kismet Psychotherapy. The foundation of my therapy is a profoundly simple belief: that healing starts when you are supported to embrace your most authentic self. I believe therapy is less about finding solutions and more about meaning-making, feeling truly seen, and reclaiming your voice.

Success is often depicted as a series of milestones achieved through talent, hard work, and perseverance. Yet, there’s a hidden dimension to success that goes beyond external accomplishments. The "secret language of success" includes understanding and overcoming personal emotional challenges that can impede our progress. Every successful individual has faced various personal challenges. Typically, the impact of such challenges goes unnoticed for quite some time. Anxiety can make it hard for us to focus and perform. Depression can cast a shadow over our aspirations. Low self-esteem and self-doubt can inhibit our confidence.

You may look successful, capable and in control from the outside, yet privately struggle with intimacy, sexuality or relationship patterns that feel confusing or difficult to change. Perhaps you find yourself caught in cycles of compulsive sexual behaviour, sexual anxiety, shame, painful intimacy, erectile difficulties, changes in desire, or relationships that repeatedly leave you feeling disconnected or alone. Often these difficulties are rarely isolated issues. They are shaped by biological factors, psychological history, attachment patterns, cultural context, and lived experience.

I have particular experience working with inter-cultural relationships, mixed-orientation dynamics, family expectations, conflict, trauma, new expecting families.
People often come to me when something in their sexual or relational life feels confusing, stuck or quietly painful. This might be conflict that keeps repeating, the sex and desire in a long-term relationship has shifted, there's infidelity, shame or coping behaviours that no longer feel in our control. On the outside we may be functioning well, yet privately struggling with intimacy, identity or connection. I offer direct, practical and emotionally attuned therapy that bridges psychological depth with relational clarity. I work in a clear, compassionate and direct way, helping you name whats happening rather than going in circles.

A first session or telephone call is a chance for us to explore what’s bringing you to therapy and see whether working together feels right for you. I offer a supportive space where you can talk openly about what’s going on in your life. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or at a point of change or loss. Together we can take time to understand together what you’re experiencing and support you in finding ways of moving forward.

My therapeutic approach is largely transpersonal integrative, which means I am able to integrate other approaches into my work, including humanistic, CBT, solution-focused and expressive/art therapy. How I work is entirely dependent on the needs of the client I am working with. Transpersonal therapy is a holistic healing intervention that evolved from the humanistic work of American psychologist Abraham Maslow in the 1960s. I am a registered member of the UKCP, and I work in accordance with their ethical guidelines. I offer both face-to-face sessions as well as online therapy which is accessible to all regardless of location.

Family Therapy Counsellors
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
