My ideal client feels stuck—whether in their personal life, career, or relationships. They may be dealing with stress, anxiety, OCD, depression, or navigating family or couples dynamics. Some are professionals seeking balance or relief from overwhelming demands. They want practical, evidence-based solutions to move forward, find peace, and develop self-compassion. Their goals are feeling healthy, achieving growth, self-awareness, and balance, seeking transformation beyond coping. I love guiding clients through their journey, helping them find clarity and sustainable change as they thrive personally and professionally. Panta-rei.

I want to offer you the space to exhale, share, dissect, be transparent, feel refreshed, as you find & accept self! I enjoy working with concerns relating to life's trauma, culture, 1st generation immigrants, self - acceptance, mid-life, family and work relationships, marriages, retirement, grief, & health.
My mantra, "Once we face the things we fear, they no longer have power over us!" So well done for taking your initial steps towards change. We get stuck within our own worlds (especially our past), fearful that we will not be heard or even understood. The 'noises' within us remain unheard setting the tone to overthink/discredit our way own way of being. We find sanctuary in others peoples words, feelings, emotions, thoughts & continue to dishonor our own as we are fearful for what we mite have to face - demeaning our needs seem so much easier than confront them?

You may decide to seek individual therapy for different reasons: you may be experiencing some difficulties or changes in your life affecting you and/or their family and significant others. You may also decide to come to therapy to have an opportunity to think about how you would like to improve your life, confidence and self-esteem. In our initial appointment, we will have a chance to discuss what your goals are and what change you would like to see and to assess if I am the right fit for you.

I have 30 years experience giving counselling, I’ve been a specialist NHS eating disorders therapist, addictions therapist, CAMHS therapist, Adult mental health clinician and counselling manager. I’m neurodivergant informed and developing a government counselling service for Special schools. There are many reasons why people come to counselling, we all struggle at times and may experience anxiety, low mood, loss or find life harder to cope with. It’s scary to ask for support, I understand this, I grew up in a family with complex needs and this experience is the compassionate basis for my work, bringing a deep understanding.

Together, we find healthy ways to experience these emotions using a variety of therapeutic techniques, such as Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Even though you have what might seem like "a good life," you may still feel a deep sense of emptiness and struggle with overwhelming anxiety and difficult emotions. At times, it might be hard to even identify what you're feeling. These challenges could stem from a difficult childhood, particularly in your relationships with your parents or siblings, affecting how you connect with others today. We refer to these experiences as attachment trauma or childhood emotional neglect. However, these patterns don’t have to define your future; healing and change are possible.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
