Depression Counselling in West London
My clients are often high-functioning individuals in demanding roles who are used to coping outwardly, while internally feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected. When pressure, burnout, or unresolved experiences become unsustainable, we work to restore clarity, emotional steadiness, and control—so they can think clearly, respond effectively, and move forward with confidence.

Do you ever feel anxious, numb, or like you’re carrying a weight you can’t quite name? Many of the people I work with describe feeling stuck, distant from themselves, or quietly believing they’re not good enough, a feeling that echoes through their relationships, work, and inner world. Sometimes they’re navigating grief, loss, or a painful ending, or carrying early experiences of neglect or disconnection that have left them feeling emotionally overwhelmed.

My approach to psychotherapy involves trying to understand and address difficulties by increasing awareness of the more underlying aspects that lead to the development of symptoms. I will start by being curious and listening carefully at what brought you to therapy: the moments that marked your life, your relationship to others and the issues that may be making life hard for you. The specific words you use to describe your problems and the thoughts, feelings and memories that may come up during sessions are all important as they can open the way to understanding the more underlying concerns that lie behind symptoms.

Whether we feel depressed, anxious or our relationships do not work out, having the opportunity to talk freely about this with a professional can allow us to feel supported and understood, whilst making sense of these difficulties.
Working psycho-dynamically, either individually or in a group will allow you to explore your lived experiences, unprocessed emotions and behavioural patterns, throwing light on issues you are experiencing in the present. It offers the chance to consider and reflect on how particular events have played a part in your development and how they still affect you

We all encounter difficulties at some points in our lives: problems with relationships, anxiety or depression, sexual concerns, low self-esteem, addiction to alcohol or drugs, bereavement, trauma or feelings of anger, grief or panic.
As an integrative psychotherapist, I bring together a combination of techniques tailored to each individual client. My practice is grounded in psychodynamic theory but also draws on aspects of existential, humanistic and cognitive behavioural theory. I firmly believe that a problem explored from multiple perspectives can deliver insight and drive change.

My therapeutic approach is largely transpersonal integrative, which means I am able to integrate other approaches into my work, including humanistic, CBT, solution-focused and expressive/art therapy. How I work is entirely dependent on the needs of the client I am working with. Transpersonal therapy is a holistic healing intervention that evolved from the humanistic work of American psychologist Abraham Maslow in the 1960s. I am a registered member of the UKCP, and I work in accordance with their ethical guidelines. I offer both face-to-face sessions as well as online therapy which is accessible to all regardless of location.

I use a combination of psychodynamic, attachment-based and Jungian approaches to help individuals think about their relationships. Relationships can be the place where we feel the most creative and alive but they can also leave us vulnerable to abandonment, unhealthy dependancy, feelings of impotence and despair. If you are struggling with intimate relationships, it feels difficult to find a partner, a recent break-up is keeping you hostage or your relationships are following the same pattern, it might be crucial to explore what might be going on underneath the surface.

My speciality is stress, depression, anxiety, and relationships.
I am an Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist, offering a safe, confidential, empathetic, and non-judgemental space for you to process and demystify your experiences. Know that you are held, listened to, understood, and supported. Integrative means that I draw from several modalities, namely, psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, and transpersonal. Hence, I do not have a 'one size fits all' approach. Instead, I meet you where you are, which is informed by a heart-centred, client led approach and will take aspects from a particular principle/s and apply appropriately in service to whatever your needs might be.

I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, grief or trauma related to their relationships or family.
You may be feeling out of touch with yourself, as though you’re always putting on a front or staying on high alert just to get through the day. On the outside, you might seem like you’re coping well and keeping everything together, but inside there’s a sense of exhaustion and being overwhelmed. It may even be difficult to recall the last time you felt genuinely relaxed or able to enjoy things. If you’re looking for a space where you can begin to understand these experiences more deeply, you’re welcome here.

What is the goal of therapy for depression?
Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognise and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.
What happens in therapy for depression?
Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.
What therapy types help with depression?
Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioural activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.
Can therapy for depression be done online?
Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.
How effective is therapy for depression?
Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
