Hello, my name is Sarah. I am an integrative psychotherapist who primarily focuses on ensuring that my client feels comfortable to explore hidden truths, emotional pain and daily struggles. I offer short & long term therapy, that can be face-to-face, via Zoom, Skype or telephone. There are many different reasons that can bring us to therapy. You may be struggling with emotional difficulties, finding meaning, going through a transition. You may be experiencing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, or simply feel that something just isn't right. My approach focuses on assisting you to work through dynamics that may be keeping you stuck.

I use a combination of psychodynamic, attachment-based and Jungian approaches to help individuals think about their relationships. Relationships can be the place where we feel the most creative and alive but they can also leave us vulnerable to abandonment, unhealthy dependancy, feelings of impotence and despair. If you are struggling with intimate relationships, it feels difficult to find a partner, a recent break-up is keeping you hostage or your relationships are following the same pattern, it might be crucial to explore what might be going on underneath the surface.

I see the therapeutic space as an opportunity to take a new look at current difficulties, taking into account old and often unconscious issues in order to promote the awareness that leads to more harmonious functioning and more satisfactory relationships. I prioritise establishing a climate of trust in the therapeutic relationship where warmth and empathy are paramount. My experience also reaches to supporting young adults who seek to better understand their concerns and symptoms, which can be in the range of depression, relationship snd family difficulties.

As a psycho-dynamic practitioner, I see my role first as to provide you with a safe and confidential space in which explore whatever issues you may be experiencing. At unpacking what seem to be the problem, I would listen up to the symptoms but my interest would be on the collaborative understanding of the underlying cause. Exploring and understanding this, would be the body of the work. And it is that, what brings change, and a change that is lasting because will be located not in the symptom but on what caused it in the first place.

I am an experienced and fully qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist. I have worked in the NHS and in private practice. My approach focuses on unlocking the underlying cause of distress, not just managing symptoms. I partner clients to get under the skin of what's going on, help them see why they feel this way, and use this insight to bring about change.

I would like to begin by quoting Dr Stephen Shore “If you've met one individual with Autism, you've met one individual with Autism”, because I believe this quote describes most of the neurodivergent clients I work with. As someone diagnosed with neurodiversity (Dyslexia), I bring not only professional training but also a lived understanding of how complex and layered the inner world can be. I am a fully qualified and experienced psychotherapist with a Master's degree in Psychotherapy and an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I am also a Certified Transactional Analyst and trained in EMDR.

You might be coming into therapy for any number of reasons- the breakdown of a relationship, professional disillusionment, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, bereavement, fertility issues or trauma.
Hi, my name is Charlotte. I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist with an MSc in Transactional Analysis. I know that coming to therapy can often feel difficult and scary. The desire to want to change often comes out of finding yourself stuck in the same place. This can feel confusing and even overwhelming, so finding the right therapist for you is essential. Together, we will work on making sense of the mental blocks you’ve hit to unlock new ways of thinking through the past in order to awaken present. I am a warm, empathic and direct counsellor who can offer you a confidential space to explore yourself deeply and in your own time.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
