It's entirely reasonable for us all, at some point, to be anxious and confused by life, challenged by relationships, family life and or the direction of our career. Life can be difficult, there's no denying that, you just don't have to suffer in silence. Really, the only qualification in seeking therapy is to be a normal human being. I could go on 'selling' the benefits, but ultimately I assure you, if you try, things will change, and quite possibly for the better.

By gaining insight into how significant relationships and events have shaped your feelings, communication, and actions, you'll develop a deeper understanding of yourself. I don’t offer quick fixes or surface-level solutions, but instead work with clients to gradually understand the deeper patterns and meanings in their emotional lives. Since 2006, I have been committed to helping individuals and couples strengthen their relationships, and improve their mental and sexual health.
Therapy puts words to the feelings, that would otherwise remain painful or unresolved.

Trauma may be causing you to have flashbacks, intrusive thoughts or memories, sleep disturbance, feeling anxious, hyper-vigilance, feeling disconnected or limited by patterns rooted in the past, to name but a few symptoms. I combine EMDR and other tools and techniques to help you process memories and feelings that are causing disturbing symptoms in your mind and body. Often, what we feel is about what we remember and how we remember it. EMDR and other approaches taken from neuro-linguistic programming can help you reprocess memories, feelings and sensations that are interfering with your life and relationships.

Registered as a Psychotherapist with the UKCP and NLPTCA, I have Post Graduate Training in Contemporary Psychotherapy including Psychopathology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neurolinguistic therapy, Gestalt, and Clinical Hypnotherapy.
I am a UKCP Registered Clinical Psychotherapist and have been in Clinical Practice since 2003. I am down to earth, friendly and believe therapy is a collaborative process - my job is to help you find in a way that works for you not somebody else. No one type of therapy suits everyone so I deliberately integrate a number of approaches into my work to suit each individual's needs. I know life can be tough and sometimes overwhelming so offer a place where we can talk about what is most difficult so we can make sense of it for you. I offer in person and online therapy (using Zoom or Teams).

Sometimes we may find ourselves overwhelmed with what life sends our way and we lose confidence in ourselves and abilities. Sessions can be either a one off or a series of events, depending on your needs. As Gandhi said, "Be the change that you want to see."

The loss avoidance game becomes a finite cycle, where the pursuit of pleasure "always" wins. Progress means change, rehearsing new ways of thinking or a range of strategies to iterate development safely. The result: a genuine approach for you to find a better way forward. My goal is to enable a strong mental foundation where mindful skills will help you keep life within reach. I am HCPC-registered in clinical, counselling, health, and occupational psychology. Supervisor, providing services beginning from eclectic CBT interventions (ACT, DBT, or ST), the most effective and intuitive psychological framework.

I have over 15 years experience in providing psychotherapy for problems including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic, phobias and problems related to autism. Although I primarily use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in my work, I also draw on a variety of other therapy approaches so that I can tailor my therapy to your individual needs. I work privately with individuals and couples and I am also experienced at working with children from the age of 13 years.

How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by using guided hypnosis to help you reach a state of focus and concentration through mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition. The state is somewhat like being absorbed in a book, a film, or your own thoughts. You are not under a therapist’s “control,” but they can help you relax and turn your attention inward to discover the resources to achieve behaviour change or better manage psychological concerns. Therapy sessions may involve guiding you through recognising a problem, releasing problematic thoughts about it, and considering and accepting more productive alternatives before returning to normal awareness. Hypnotherapy is typically used by a therapist along with traditional forms of talk therapy. Eventually, your therapist can help you learn hypnotherapy techniques yourself, so you can establish a stronger sense of control on your own in stressful or challenging moments.
Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy, which is sometimes called hypnotic suggestion, is a therapeutic technique in which a therapist uses hypnosis to help patients. It is not the kind of hypnosis portrayed in stage shows, or in movies or on television. You will not be unconscious or asleep during hypnotherapy, you will not lose control of yourself, your thoughts, or your free will, and you will be able to fully recall your experience. And while you will hear your therapist’s suggestions, it is always up to you to decide whether to act on them. Hypnosis by a trained mental-health professional is not a form of mind control, which is impossible to achieve anyway.
Can everyone be hypnotised?
The most common challenge of hypnotherapy is that as many as one in four people cannot be hypnotised. Brain imaging has confirmed differences in patterns of brain connectivity between those who respond to hypnotism and those who do not. Other people who could potentially be hypnotised may not respond to the technique because of their scepticism or resistance to entering a hypnotic state. If a therapist’s “post-hypnotic suggestion” is effective, it’s because they are suggesting something you want to achieve.
Does hypnotherapy work?
Through hypnotherapy, you can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. Like other talk therapy techniques, when hypnotherapy succeeds, it’s a case of mind over matter. Effective hypnotherapy involves self-healing because you access resources you need to change inside of yourself and learn how to tap into them whenever you need. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective therapy for anxiety, phobias, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, and undesirable behaviours like smoking. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address relationship challenges, and to aid with pain management, digestive disorders, skin conditions, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
