For anxiety and low self-esteem I would usually suggest starting with 8 sessions and we would work together to understand what holds you back from feeling more relaxed and self-assured.
In an ideal world, we would feel unconditionally loved and accepted, free to be openly ourselves, able to develop and maintain meaningful relationships and eager to explore the world around us. The reality is that many of us have had challenging experiences in our lives and we carry inner hurts and wounds. My aim is to help you explore these, recognise their impact and manage the associated difficult feelings and thoughts. I offer a confidential space and a calm presence in which you can explore any personal issues free of judgment and we will work together to help you implement the changes you seek.

If anxiety, self-doubt or a constant sense of unease has become part of your everyday life, it can feel as though you're always on edge.
At the heart of my approach is a deep understanding of how earlier experiences shape present-day thoughts, feelings, and relationships. Alongside talking therapy I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and parts work (including IFS-informed therapy) to support deeper healing, especially when words are not enough.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Some come with a specific problem they want solving. Others want to explore more deeply - towards greater clarity, direction, depth and meaning in life. Some have a particular idea or diagnosis in mind but don't find it's enough to guide them towards feeling better.
Rather than starting with a fixed label, approach or technique I start with you - what's happening right now, what have you tried, what are you hoping for, what are you concerned about, or maybe even dreading. From there we draw on a range of techniques and approaches at your pace, shaped by your needs and history.

I work with anxiety, low self-esteem, identity and relationship struggles.
Maybe you’ve worked hard to stay strong and independent — keeping things together, staying in control, not needing too much from anyone. But underneath, there’s a part of you that still longs for connection, to be seen and wanted. Maybe you replay conversations in your head, second-guess yourself, or feel stuck with a constant sense that you’re not good enough — even if no one else sees it. Maybe there are days when everything feels heavy, and you're not even sure what you're reaching for anymore.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
