I work with various difficulties and have particular expertise in anxiety, bereavement, burn-out, depression, life stage transitions, low self-esteem, relationship issues & trauma.
Life can bring many challenges, and therapy is a space to learn to cope with emotional setbacks in a creative and positive way. I view my role as supporting people to understand themselves better and make changes in their lives. I have a specialist interest in high-functioning, high-achieving individuals who find themselves unhappy and burnt out. I also work at the Nightingale Hospital, Marylebone and I have previously worked at Maggie’s, a not-for-profit provider to the NHS for people with cancer and their loved ones. I really enjoy helping people to improve their well-being and create lives that are meaningful to them.

We all have a story that needs to be told, and I want to give you the gift of therapy that will equip you and move you towards being your most authentic self, whatever that looks like for you. As an Integrative Counsellor, my work considers your whole story in context, the historical value of experiences and the present-day application. The individuals I work with come from various backgrounds, so I work with a culturally sensitive and accommodating trauma-informed approach. They want to work on relational difficulties, sexual addictions, shame, unprocessed loss, transitioning to adulthood, and midlife crisis.

My experience includes working with low moods, anxiety, stress, bereavement, relationship & identity difficulties, diagnosed mental health conditions such as eating disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD), Dissociation, General Anxiety Disorders and depression.
I am an accredited integrative psychotherapist (MBACP) with a special focus on trauma and dissociation. I work relationally, which means that, through the therapeutic relationship, you are encouraged to understand how early experiences and past relationships impact on your present difficulties. In order to access emotions and past traumatic experiences trapped in the body I sometimes use a more mindful and somatic approach in addition to traditional talking therapies. Of special interest to me is how unresolved and traumatic experiences can be healed and transformed by a greater integration of the mind and body.

You might feel stuck in patterns that you can't seem to break free of, or have difficulty connecting with other people, or feeling true intimacy. Or you might have been putting on a 'mask' to go out to work and function in the world, but underneath are living with pain in various forms: depression, anxiety, grief or anger. If you feel motivated to make changes but don't know where to start, then psychotherapy might be right for you. With time, as you start to feel safe enough to talk in depth about the things that have been troubling you, therapy can become a very real relationship of trust and openness.

We often tell our lives as stories in order to make meaning out of them. Sometimes our own story seems to disrupt due to an immediate crisis or issues to do with our past that cause us distress. Perhaps a combination of both. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental and gentle space for you to tell your story. Together we can look at is causing you pain, where it’s roots may be and what impact it is having on your day-to-day life. Most importantly work toward finding a way through the struggles you may be experiencing.

The reasons behind people seeking therapy are vast. For some, there may be a specific question; for others, it may be the desire to understand some part of themselves that they have been struggling to grasp for some time. We all experience times of difficulty and struggle, and sometimes we may find that familiar ways of coping no longer seem to help, or we notice our patterns with others no longer serve us to feel safe and secure. Therapy is designed to create a safe space, with no agenda, so that we can think carefully about ourselves within the context of our lives to explore understanding and change.

I am a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist. Often people sitting in front of me deal with issues they call depression, anxiety, panic attacks, doubts around their relationships, parental struggles, and so much more... I consider these as "symptoms" or attempted solutions to very difficult circumstances, transitions or changes. Losing a parent or becoming one, having a new relationship or breaking up from one, changing career or moving to a new country, questioning gender identity or life's vocational choice are some of the events that might change our lives in ways we did not expect and get ourselves stuck.

It's ironic that a large part of psychotherapeutic work is around trying to convince people that their perceived 'abnormal' feelings and behaviours are a completely 'normal' reaction to a set of, often very difficult life circumstances. For instance, why wouldn't someone have a generalised feeling of persistent anxiety and low mood, when they have to live in what seems like a crazy and confusing world? We can work toward a more accepting and benevolent view of ourselves, exploring who you truly are and where you might truly want to go in life, without the harsh inner voices of the past.

Feeling stuck? The causes can be many: relationship issues, redundancy, bored in the job or even things sometimes termed as “mental illness.” I use that last term carefully because though it can help define the symptoms, if often fails to get at the human story beneath which is always there and needs addressing as well as any medical issues. In my sessions my aim is to help you past what eve holds you back into a better life- whatever that means to you.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
