People come to psychotherapy and counselling for many different reasons. Perhaps it is a time of crisis or difficulty when feelings have become overwhelming and difficult to share with people that you might normally. It could be that this is linked to a desire to gain a deeper self-understanding. Simply talking to the right therapist for you can provide relief. I have a wide experience of working with different conditions and situations, in particular depression, anxiety, anger and relationship issues. I work with an emphasis on facilitating your enquiry in a safe and effective way, within a supportive relationship.

Some people seek psychotherapy and counselling because of a quiet desire for something more, some because of an absence of joy and liveliness, some feel a lingering sadness, some find themselves in shallow relationships, some are suffering the pains of depression, anxiety or anger , some feel close to madness, some are curious to take a closer look at the riches within.

You are probably struggling with something in your life which you have been unable to resolve yourself. This may be a relationship or sexual problem, anger issues, family problems, anxiety/depression or maybe just a feeling that something is missing in your life. You may have found that you haven't been able to come up with a solution and that talking to family or friends feels like you're burdening them or it is hard to get an objective perspective. Instead of feeling like you're going round in circles and repeating the same mistakes, you'd like to feel more free and empowered.

Is something not quite 'right'? Are you feeling stressed? Anxious? Irritated? Mind racing 100 miles per hour? Rarely a good night sleep? Feeling down? Self critical? Having disproportionate anger ? Numb? Scared? These feelings are not to be quickly 'fixed' with a few quick strategies; they need to be patiently understood because they are an important portal into understanding what needs to be attended to and healed in you, or, perhaps in your environment. They say, "The only way out is through", and I look forward to accompanying you on this journey where you start walking out of your difficulties and thrive.

It’s not unusual to have feelings that weigh us down and reach a stage of great distress and hopelessness. Whether you feel you are in crisis or just want to get to grips with thoughts and feelings that may be disturbing you, I can help. You might feel anxiety, depression, anger or shame. You might be having relationship problems or going through big changes in your life like the loss of a loved one or a job that have a big impact on you and you need help to cope with. Or there may be something inside you that you have lived with for some time and that gets in the way and prevents you from leading a fuller and happier life.

I typically work with people wrestling with anxiety, despair, anger , and shame; who struggle with guilt, mistrust, addiction, and dissociation; who are self-critical, self-destructive, and who feel trapped in repeated patterns of hurting self and others. Such feelings, behaviours, and patterns of relating often stem from multiple and complex life events and circumstances, including past and present abusive and neglectful relationships, abandonment, bereavement, bullying, trauma, racism, sexism, gender expectations, parenthood, study/work/financial pressures, and more existential challenges such as finding meaning in life and death.

I work with clients with depression, anxiety, unwanted sexual behaviour, relationship struggles, anger , trauma, burnout, unresolved family issues and more severe mental illnesses.
I have 14 years of international work experience both as a pastor and a psychotherapist. I specialise in helping clients manage difficult relationships, overcome trauma and relieve anxiety. Clients find me to be approachable, curious, insightful and realistic in my counselling methods. I relate particularly well to men and women who are hesitant to attend counselling. Convinced that relationships are the avenue to lasting change, my goal in therapy is to create a safe therapeutic relationship that provides a setting for clients to experience healing and empowerment.

Hello, I'm Beth. Being human can be hard, right? However, you are not alone in your struggles. You might be here because you’ve been feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and in pain; or perhaps lost, stuck, or unhappy. When life is out of balance, you may find yourself struggling with sleep and headaches, or feeling weighed down by anxiety, low mood, or anger that's becoming increasingly problematic in your daily life. Maybe these struggles have been present or building up for some time (and may, or may not be, related to trauma from earlier in life). Or perhaps more recent life events are affecting your emotional and physical wellbeing.

I have experience in working with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, sexual abuse, anger issues, addictions, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, stress, panic disorder, bereavement and relationship problems.
I am a UKCP accredited Relational Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist. My approach is relational, which is an efficacious and powerful model of working with individuals who struggle with psychological, emotional and relational distress. Relationships are at the very heart of what it is to be human and a specific pattern of relating might be the roots of psychological distress. In the first sessions, we can explore what are your difficulties and together according to your needs we can create a specific treatment plan.

In addition I have experience in the following other areas; * Anger Issues *Anxiety * Bereavement * Depression *Domestic Abuse * Family Conflict *Mental health issues.
As a person-centred counsellor based in north London, I believe that talking can help us feel less isolated with our problems and thoughts.    Sometimes it’s difficult to talk to family and friends; you may not wish to cause worry or distress or you may not want their advice and opinion. I provide an understanding ,  non-judgemental and safe space where you will be heard and where you can bring issues and concerns that may be preventing you from being who you want to be and where you want to be in your life. I offer an initial assessment, which will enable us to see if we connect and whether you feel comfortable within the counsel

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
