I work with individuals and couples, supporting people navigating anxiety, relationship difficulties, intimacy issues and life transitions.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on humanistic, relational and psychodynamic approaches. I have a particular interest in the mind–body connection, and how unresolved emotion and stress can manifest as physical symptoms. Rather than fighting anxiety, numbness or dissociation, we gently explore them with curiosity so the nervous system can begin to settle.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy for individuals and couples in Archway, Finsbury Park and London Bridge.
I am a psychotherapist and supervisor and have been working with individuals and groups for the last twenty years. For several years I was on the training committee at AGIP including two years as chair. I am currently the course leader for the Guild's diploma in psychoanalytic supervision. I would describe my orientation as psychoanalytic from within a contemplative perspective. By this I mean that I subscribe to the idea of an unconscious and believe events and attitudes from early life can impact on our lives today. I understand that an awareness of these currents helps to increase the choices available to us.

I work with both individuals and couples in person and online.
I bring to the table a comprehensive training, along with a wide variety of experience drawn from many realms of life and it would be rare for me to come across an issue which I feel unable to work with. I am interested in what lies beneath the surface. How you are in your everyday life is usually an adaptation which can be unhelpful as life progresses.

At Southwark Counselling & Psychotherapy I work with individuals, couples and multiple partners.
I take a relational, trauma-informed approach. This means I understand “mental health”, “mental health disorders”, and “mental illness” to be normal human variations and/or manifestations of distress in response to circumstances and experiences which may be happening now, or may have happened in the past.

With over a decade in NHS and private practice, I work with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, shame, and complex family histories.
You may be struggling with anxiety, panic, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, loneliness, or a persistent sense that something in life is not working despite appearing functional on the surface. Many people I work with feel stuck in repeating emotional or relational patterns, or find themselves coping on the outside while internally feeling unsettled, exhausted, or disconnected.

My work involves providing therapeutic support to individuals, couples and groups dealing with personal, social, or psychological issues.
You might be feeling stuck or wondering whether you've made the right decision. You might not even know what the right decision is. You might even want to explore who it is that you are, why you do the things that you do, or why you're in the situation that you're in. If that is you, then consider what it is that counselling and psychotherapy might be able to do in helping you to consider all these questions that you might have about yourself and your situation.

Essentially, counselling and psychotherapy offers us an opportunity to learn about ourselves. And none more so than when faced with the emotional challenges that are often part of everyday life. At these times we may feel on our own, stuck and unsure of which way to turn. It may also be difficult to find someone we can trust and who will understand, or, in such a busy world, someone who has the time to listen. This is when a counsellor or a psychotherapist can help. I offer a calm, caring, safe, respectful and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.

During our lives we may have experience difficulties from early childhood that continue to impact into our adulthood, having someone to listen your problems with an understanding on life experiences and the expertise will benefit greatly to take you safely through a journey to confront and overcome these challenges towards a positive future. The most important support to give to someone is allowing them to feel safe, secure and a non -judgemental space to explore their problems through listening.

Marriage Counselling
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
