Many of the people I work with are struggling with questions of faith, identity, and culture, often alongside a loss of meaning or a fractured relationship with belief, responsibility, and self. I work with people who want to understand themselves properly, not just manage symptoms. Experiences such as religious trauma, diaspora identity, internalised racism, and racial trauma sit at the centre of my work. My role is not to offer quick fixes. It is to help you think clearly about your life, your history, and the patterns you find yourself repeating, especially the ones you already recognise but cannot shift.

Whatever the reason that brought you here, I imagine it was not an easy journey. At times we feel estranged from ourselves, and this spills over into our outward-facing life; other times a major change or loss comes into our life and we struggle to cope. We might experience dark thoughts and feelings, find them disturbing, and start believing there is something wrong with us. In therapy, we look at these parts of life: what is scary when faced alone can become bearable when it is understood together. Over time, we can come to see that life has many layers, and that difficult emotions are a natural part of being human.

Mental health difficulties come in many forms and can impact our lives profoundly. Struggles may have been with us for years, even forming part of our identity, or they may have appeared as if from nowhere. Our attempts to cope often draw from the same well that feeds the problem, making it difficult to change things alone. One of the many ways therapy works is by unlocking different thinking, awareness and experience, allowing problems to be truly addressed in a new, meaningful way.

At some time or another, we all need help in dealing with the difficulties that life can bring. Modern, fast-paced living is often overwhelming and so making choices that are beneficial for us becomes more challenging. We often find ourselves taking decisions that move us away from who we truly are and the life we want to lead. Through therapy we can explore what has brought you to where you are now, what is no longer working for you and how to facilitate a shift towards a preferred present and future.
