Stressed up and anxious?
They have left with their self-esteem restored, and with a deeper understanding of themselves. As a bereavement counsellor I have helped depressed and grieving clients to see the light and find some peace. Being an émigré myself, I understand homesickness and cultural difference. For years I worked in the corporate world and experienced its pressures.

You might be queer, creative, or sensitive — or all three. You’ve lived outside the lines in some way. Maybe you’ve done the healing work before but find yourself circling the same questions again:
Who am I, really? What do I want? Where do I belong?
You don’t want quick fixes or shallow advice. You want space to go deeper. To sit with the questions. To feel your way through.
I work online and in person in Brighton and London in London Bridge, SE1

I work with clients who have experienced childhood trauma, are suffering after a relationship breakdown or struggling with depression, anger or anxiety particularly during menopause.
When you're suffering, mindfulness-based psychotherapy offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect and gain an in-depth understanding of how you came to be the way you are now, what remains unresolved and what needs your attention. You might be experiencing a relationship breakdown, a major life transition, self-sabotage or a lack of joy in your life - whatever your difficulty, together we will explore the patterns you are repeating and how to break the cycle.
I have a gentle, down-to-earth approach to therapy and bring empathy, intuition and curiosity into the relationship as well as a bit of humour from time to time.

You may feel stuck in patterns you can’t shift - anxiety, shame, low mood, compulsive habits, relationship difficulties or a sense of lost purpose.
Therapy can help you step out of that cycle. My approach supports both self-acceptance and meaningful change. We make sense of your life experience, the patterns you repeat, and how you respond to the world and it's pressures - consciously and unconsciously. A lot of change happens through the therapeutic relationship itself: being understood and truly heard

I work with men who are used to taking the strain. Serving others. Problem solving.
But who've been hit by a crisis, by something they can't fix. Where doubling down isn't cutting it.
And who are ready to try something different.
Working with me looks like exploring what's behind the crisis, hearing the message it contains, and responding to what it's saying.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
