Full of anger?
They have left with their self-esteem restored, and with a deeper understanding of themselves. As a bereavement counsellor I have helped depressed and grieving clients to see the light and find some peace. Being an émigré myself, I understand homesickness and cultural difference. For years I worked in the corporate world and experienced its pressures.

Stress, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, bereavement, anger, low self-esteem, and loneliness are just some of the reasons why you might want to try psychotherapy.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist in private practice, and I welcome anyone who feels that psychotherapy may provide the opportunity to consider their life. It is a collaborative process between the person seeking help and myself. It affords the chance to discover in which direction you might want your life to go.

Some people seek psychotherapy and counselling because of a quiet desire for something more, some because of an absence of joy and liveliness, some feel a lingering sadness, some find themselves in shallow relationships, some are suffering the pains of depression, anxiety or anger, some feel close to madness, some are curious to take a closer look at the riches within.
In psychotherapy and counselling with me, you will be invited to bring the complexities of your inner and outer life as you work with me on the journey of becoming truly yourself. Regular deep listening and attention to your inner and outer life, past, present and future, will accompany your growth. Fees for ongoing work are discussed in the first session.

I have NHS and private practice experience of helping people with various challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem / low self-confidence, stress, bereavement, anger, childhood/adult trauma and loss.
Initially, it may be helpful to explore your past to understand links with your present patterns of behaviour, attachment relationships and feelings. We can then work out your true needs and what choices may achieve them in a positive and practical way. The experience of being listened to non-judgementally and understood can bring deep relief from distress.

I believe that the 3 most common reasons leading people to seek therapy are Anger, Sadness & Belief System.
The Gestalt Approach is a talk therapy with particular principles. Such as "here and now focus". Whether you go back to the past or look to the future we focus on how this connects to now for you. And "naming the obvious". This can be patterns, narratives, connections and associations that you may or may not be aware of. Creativity, expression, awareness.

Sometimes an initial presenting issue (such as anxiety, anger, grief or depression) will open the door to exploration of other areas that have been out of awareness.
I know from experience that it can be hard to know where to start, and to take the first step. Especially if feeling uncertain, vulnerable or anxious. I welcome you to contact me for an initial chat. We can figure things out from there.

If you lose control of your anger or your anxiety holds you back, we can unpack what makes you tick.
As a registered BACP counsellor, I offer a person-centred approach that integrates psychodynamic theories. This is because I have learned that strong relationships are what creates lasting change. I also integrate CBT exercises as an extra aid for you. I know from my own experience that change is simple but not easy if you do not put it into practice.

SERVICES I PROVIDE: Like all forms of therapy, integrative therapy requires that you are open to exploring your fears, your hopes, your life, what is causing you challenges, and what you hope for your future. But if you like the idea of a therapy which is a bit more bespoke and less rigid than other forms, then integrative therapy might indeed be for you. Would you like to try this type of therapy?

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
