I also work with couples and individuals who experience issues on becoming parents (fertility/adoption) or with those who find it difficult to make the decision to parent because of their own past experiences.
I provide a safe space for you to explore the issues that may be affecting you as an individual or as a couple. There can be a great sense of relief in talking about something that may have disabled you for some time. The work we do together can enable you to enhance your wellbeing and think about your all of your relationships & how you contribute to them.

I offer online parenting sessions on a Tuesday or Sunday morning, or on a Thursday evening.
ENA Behaviour Consultancy provides tailored, early intervention behaviour support for families of young people aged 4-11. We support caregivers by supporting them to gain confidence and understanding around emerging behaviours by collaboratively working along side them to support their child. We provide short term (6-8 sessions) support to families and introduce a behaviour support plan to mitigate risk, teach new skills and ultimately reduce behaviours. We introduce strategies proactively, meaning that we look at WHY behaviours are happening and replace them with alternatives to ensure that the young person's needs are being met.

Feelings of low self-worth and relationship issues could be tied to early experiences with a parent/caregiver.
Are you a young adult dealing with depression, anxiety, anger or low self-esteem? Do you ever feel like these challenges might come from your past, especially from times when you couldn’t share your feelings with your parents/caregivers? You might have learned to keep things inside, only felt validated for certain achievements, or never had your emotions acknowledged. This may now affect how you feel about yourself, leading to struggles with setting boundaries, feeling 'not good enough,' or accepting love and respect from others.

My systemic training as well as Terry Neal, Ester Perel and Dr Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy informs my practice when working with couples, including co- parenting post-divorce.
I have worked in the NHS for 25 years, across a variety of settings and am currently undertaking an MA in Family Therapy. Neuro-biology and Somatic psychology are also areas that inform my practice. This includes helping individuals to understand choices around mental health medication, how the body and mind are 'one' and are both informed by the 'fight or flight' response, attachment styles and survival strategies. I use NVR (Non-Violent Resolution) to support families and young people with challenging behaviours.

I offer individual counselling to children and teenagers aged 11-18 and parent work sessions for parents, carers and guardians.
Maybe you are worried about your teenage child, perhaps things feel 'off', on edge or somewhat hopeless. There could be specific challenges your child is struggling with or maybe the hardships are harder to define; whatever the reason you are seeking support I welcome all experiences and life stories.

As an IFS therapist, I offer a safe space to help you understand challenges and where the emotional pain comes from. I focus therapy on working with core wounds. Core wounds are the reason why you might experience fear & anxiety. They can be a source of feelings of shame & abandonment which often lead to confusion, conflicts, and not feeling safe in meaningful relationships. Those feelings when not embraced can cause destructive behavior toward yourself, others, or your body. In our work together, we will use the pain as a guide, and catalyst for healing. This process will ultimately lead to life that is fulfilling & just easier.

My approach is collaborative and informal. You may be a concerned parent, or a worried child.
I work integratively and holistically, which means I'll consider every aspect of your life: your past for the patterns formed in your thoughts and behaviour, your health for what it reflects and how it affects you, your life now, for what you can change and how you can live with what you can't change. Relationships are a focus, but we start with you.

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
