It is my belief that the idea of
relationship
design does not deprive human relationships from their magic … Rather, it brings awareness of the active role we play through our choices.
My clients' goal is to design the life they love. They are typically internationally mobile people who are facing challenges related to significant change – moving between different countries/cultures, change in their
relationship
status or professional roles. They might be going through challenging times in life and facing difficult choices: infidelity, separation, empty nest syndrome. We work in their first or second language - English, Russian or Bulgarian. And even if I don’t speak your native tongue, as someone who is multilingual, I understand the challenges and gifts that come with bilingualism and multilingualism.

I am an experienced psychologist who offers 1:1 therapy to adults and young people (16+) who present with long-standing
relationship
problems and emotional issues. May that be recurring difficulties with friends, co-workers or family members, unintentionally choosing the ‘wrong’ partners, or perhaps choosing not to relate at all by avoiding people all together. If such relational dynamics persist, they are bound to make us feel anxious, depressed or numb. My passion is to help others make sense of and release dysfunctional patterns in relationships, to build emotional resilience, and to have more fulfilling connections instead.

People may come for therapy because of specific issues such as recent or past trauma, loss,
relationship
difficulties or for support with making life changes. But often, we don't know why we feel bad about ourselves or our lives - we may simply know we're depressed, anxious, stuck or frustrated. Therapy can provide a safe, non-judgemental space in which to figure out where we are in our lives, and what we need next. For some, this may be a short course of counselling, for others a longer term psychotherapy and yet others may find they need something other than therapy: my job is to support you in making your own decision.

My aim is to offer a safe, secure
relationship
in which we explore these difficulties together.
I am an Attachment Psychotherapist which means that I help you explore your past and present experiences that may have affected you in some way. Sometimes our experiences can leave us feeling insecure or lacking in confidence, making it difficult to form or sustain healthy relationships or cope with everyday life. Talking this through with a psychotherapist can help you to understand and value yourself more. It is not the job of a psychotherapist to tell you what to do but to offer you different perspectives and a different experience of relating.

Finding a psychotherapist can be daunting, and very confusing, with a lot of terminology and names that might feel complicated and mystifying. My view is that therapy doesn't need to be so confusing and shrouded in secrecy and strange names. To put it simply, I offer you the chance to talk about whatever might be troubling you in total confidence at the same time, on the same day, in the same place, every week. That consistency, alongside the
relationship
we will develop, is all part of the healing process that therapy can provide.

I understand that deciding to start counselling and therapy can feel like a big step, from the start of therapy I encourage my clients to feel empowered through the therapy process. It may be that you've lost a loved one, experiencing family issues,
relationship
breakdown, struggling with anxiety or work-place stress. It's common to be experiencing a few of these life issues at the same time, which can lead to overwhelm and burnout. As a psychotherapist I aim to offer a tailored approach to each client in therapy sessions.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
