I can help with a number of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, loss, relationship issues, self-esteem, trauma recovery, suicidal ideation, narcissistic personality disorder, eating disorders and addiction.
Beginning therapy and finding a therapist can be a daunting process, although just taking the first step of reaching out to one is the most courageous step. I offer a confidential safe space - either in person on online - to talk about your concerns or anything which is currently troubling you at the same time and day each week. The regularity of sessions and the relationship between client and therapist which develops is part of the journey of healing that therapy can provide. I am a fully qualified and accredited psychotherapist with experience of working with people to help them heal and feel better about themselves.

I am a specialist in loss and bereavement.
You are most probably working through a series of profiles, getting increasingly baffled. I feel your pain! I work with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, those facing an ending, or a new beginning, or sometimes those that just feel 'off' or lost. Therapy, and finding a safe space to explore your worries can be genuinely life changing: we can talk about your goals and expectations of therapy and your life. This space can help you to trust in yourself, and to empower you. I really believe in talking therapy and providing kinship. I have a special interest in grief and bereavement.

With experience in supporting people through loss and bereavement both in private practice and as part of the bereavement counselling team at a leading London Hospice, I am interested in making room to process loss and how it shapes our stories, particularly the losses we may have experienced in childhood.
I work particularly with anxiety, depression, trauma and loss; loss of belonging and cultural identity as well as loss through bereavement including childhood bereavement. Influenced by the work of Carl Jung and by the writings of Annie Dillard, John O'Donohue and Richard Rohr among others, I make room for the soulful and the creative in my work. A qualified psychotherapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor, I am a member of UK Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKCP) and registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I have Diplomas in Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety or depression, or you may have gone through a life event that has set you adrift. You may be in pain or you may be curious to look deeper within yourself and work out the jigsaw that is “you”. I believe that loss is central to many of our issues. It can be loss in the most extreme way through bereavement but it may also be loss in a more general way : the loss of our identity or purpose. I help my clients to adjust to change - indeed to see change as inevitable and to embrace the growth opportunities it presents.

I work with individuals who find themselves at a challenging point in their lives due to past or present circumstances. Typically I work with people who suffer with relationship difficulties, developmental trauma, bereavement, isolation and loneliness, anxiety and/or depression. My integrative (meaning flexible) approach allows me to consider the range of difficulties that clients may have, so that life’s difficulties can seem more manageable. The work can be short or long-term depending on what issues are to be explored.

Hello. Clients come to me in a state of distress or confusion about their relationships or the direction their life has taken. You may have experienced the loss of a loved one or of identity, you may have been betrayed, or feel regret. You may be a concerned parent, or a worried child. You want to feel safe, to feel understood, and to believe there will be help, that things will be different. Ideally, you come in knowing that there is something within yourself that you would like to change. First you need to tell a story, to vent anger, anxiety, grief or fear. Then you want to be heard, and you will be.

I worked with individuals with a variety of clinical presentation including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic disorder (PTSD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), life transitions, bereavement, suicidal thoughts and abuse.
Each person is unique and distinctive and therefore one approach may not fit them all. I place the client-therapist relationship at the heart of an effective therapeutic process providing an honest and non-judgmental stance where your feelings can be expressed and contained in a safe and confidential setting. You might want to make sense of the past and explore how it can sometimes be reconstructed in the present or you might seek to get back in touch with your real self through acceptance and a better mind-body connection.

Whether due to recent events or past ones, many people struggle with grief, loss, food and body, and traumatic experiences, leaving them feeling stuck, overwhelmed and needing support. My professional expertise is in working with clients struggling with trauma and PTSD; struggling with eating disorders, body image and identity; child and adult bereavement; clients undergoing cancer treatment; end of life care; and carers. This breadth of experience has informed my understanding of the universality of inner conflict and distress, and how the tools of self-exploration and insight are essential to effect change in the here-and-now.

I offer both short & long term therapy - as well as offering general support, I specialise in oncology, palliative care & bereavement.
I work relationally with the clients I see, aiming to build a shared understanding of their difficulties. Using integrative techniques (including evidence based psychodynamic, existential, humanistic & cognitive behavioural modalities) I focus on encouraging individuals/couples to identify their existing challenges, build an understanding of themselves & their situation, & reflect on why they may feel the way they do. Through this process it is possible to build long term resilience & a more robust sense of self, having identified patterns of relating to others. This includes developing skills & techniques for coping in the future.

Sometimes we believe we are the only ones who feel and think the way we do. We can feel isolated and alone, trapped in a vicious circle of negative thoughts, feelings and emotions. This can make us feel we are not in control of our life and not living to our full potential. As an experienced Integrative Counsellor, I draw on different theories depending on what you would like to achieve and your individual needs. My name is Sue and I am an empathic, compassionate non judgemental Counsellor with experience of working with people of all different ages, cultures, genders, sexual orientation.

Bereavement Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
