A confidential, non-judgmental space where you can explore positive and challenging aspects of your life and any change you wish to explore or make. I have personal experience in sexual, physical, emotional and mental abuse; divorce; living with a Narcissist; step-parenting and living in an Ex-pat community. The approaches I predominantly use are Solution Focused, Bowenian Systemic approach, Brainspotting or Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). All approaches work with clients, though I have found 'Walk and Talk' or EFP best for adolescents or those suffering with PTSD or Trauma, along with Brainspotting.

I am particularly passionate about working with trauma survivors, and specialise in working with PTSD, Complex PTSD and complex trauma conditions.
Many people seek therapy at some point in their life. This might be to address a specific problem, work through something in their past, or help them to move their life more in line with their values. During our initial meeting, we will develop a shared understanding of your difficulties and therapy goals in the context of your life experiences, your background and your current circumstances. This will allow us to create a treatment plan together that is specifically tailored to your individual needs, and aims to help you make meaningful changes. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to explore your experiences.

I am a trainee psychotherapist specialising in Trauma and PTSD, and a qualified counsellor.
Life is not easy, and if you are reading this you have probably figured out that you want to talk. Talking and being truly heard will increase your self-awareness and help you to understand what is going on for you. Experiencing trauma can leave you struggling with upsetting emotions, memories, and anxiety that will not go away. It can also leave you feeling numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people as yourself. So being able to find a way through the trauma can be the reward you achieve when allow yourself to explore and work with me to find true you.

I gave my Counselling business the name NuVista (new view/Horizon because it was born from my vision and indeed my own personal journey that counselling or talking therapy can give people a new view of life once they; with the therapists help have explored and untangled the issues that make them anxious, stressed, depressed, bereaved, feeling suicidal or simply struggling with day to day life, or their jobs, their relationships their family life, their sexuality or even historical events that have been rendered unconscious or hidden and never spoken about. For me the goal or vision was to have a new outlook on life - a New View.

I worked with individuals with a variety of clinical presentation including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic disorder (PTSD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), life transitions, bereavement, suicidal thoughts and abuse.
Each person is unique and distinctive and therefore one approach may not fit them all. I place the client-therapist relationship at the heart of an effective therapeutic process providing an honest and non-judgmental stance where your feelings can be expressed and contained in a safe and confidential setting. You might want to make sense of the past and explore how it can sometimes be reconstructed in the present or you might seek to get back in touch with your real self through acceptance and a better mind-body connection.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
