Couples Counselling in South London, London
I believe that relationships - both with others and with ourselves - are central to mental wellbeing.
I work from a place of trying to support people in becoming unstuck and starting to move forward. Everybody comes to therapy with their own unique reasons. This can be due to specific psychological difficulties, such as depression or anxiety, feeling sad, difficult early life experiences, traumatic events, high-stress levels, or a general sense of feeling unfulfilled. I believe every person has a unique story, and psychological therapy should be adjusted appropriately as there is no “one-size-fits-all” in understanding our mental world.

I offer a safe and confidential space and a therapeutic relationship to explore what's pushing you down or holding you back, to help you move forward from difficult experiences, and to gain more freedom, ease, and creativity in your life.
I offer you space to talk, but rather than being a silent "blank screen" I offer an engaged presence, so we can figure out together what is going on for you. My approach is transdiagnostic, bringing an awareness to your unique situation, both its troubles and strengths. My practice is trauma aware and we go at the pace that feels comfortable to you.

People come to psychotherapy when life seems too much, when they feel stuck, find emotions overwhelming, or when they lose the sense of who they are.
In therapy we explore together how life is for you, how you are living in the world, the choices you make, and what fears you may have around change.
Starting therapy can be hard. I provide a confidential space where we can work with difficult emotions.

Relationship issues?
Life happens, and the majority of the time we seem to find a way to "happen" with it. We find a way to navigate through the motions of "doing" and get to a place of "being". Being excited, being present, being happy - but sometimes along the way it can get confusing, blurry and we can feel a bit lost. As a certified counsellor, I work with you through the confusion, to get to a place of clarity. I explore the past and present with you using an integrated therapeutic approach - blending the different skills I've learnt in practice to assist you with where you are right now. Many therapists talk about the varying styles of therapy

I have qualified as a Gestalt counsellor (Gestalt Centre London) in 2007 and have worked with individuals and couples since then.
People come to me usually when the circumstances of their life have moved them beyond their usual coping strategies and they are no longer able to orient themselves in their world. Together we make meaning so they can find their true North again and understand what is happening in their life. Usually, such crisis take us deeper into who we are and force us to get to know ourselves at a more profound level, and during this process self-compassion and self-love grow, as we get to know ourselves better and honour the process of maturation and growth we are on. So the pain tells us what we need to hear and integrate.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
