Alongside this, I work at a primary school and a Theatre School, supporting children and young people in both educational and creative settings.
My experience spans working with clients from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and age groups and I place strong emphasis on building a safe, trusting and collaborative relationship. I believe that when clients feel genuinely heard and supported without judgement, they are better able to explore their own thoughts and feelings and experience personal growth.

I am a child, adolescent and adult psychodynamic psychotherapist, and I work with children, adolescents, parents and adults: people who are struggling, and trying to make sense of themselves and why things are so difficult, or hurt so much.
I am a qualified child, adolescent and adult psychodynamic psychotherapist - a bit of a mouthful I admit - but I work with what the client brings so that we can tease out the themes and issues that occur and re-occur, so that we can link them, and rethink them. I also work with parents who are struggling with their babies, children or teenagers.

I am a clinical psychologist who is keen to work with anyone who wants to make a positive change, to work on something that’s always bugged them, or to understand themselves a bit better so they can thrive. I want to be led by your goals. I have experience working with clients with a broad range of goals, from working on depression and anxiety to psychosis or wanting to understand their neurodevelopmental needs more (things like ADHD or Autism). Coming from New Zealand, I was trained biculturally, which has taught me to take any worldview into account - so I hope anyone working with me can be authentically themselves.

I am an emotional focussed couple and family systemic psychotherapist, body dramatherapist, and clinical supervisor. I have 40 years' experience in mental health settings and 30 years in private practice. I am a warm, empathic therapist and highly value my relationship with my clients. I go on exploratory journeys with clients, with them leading and together we make meaning and sense as we navigate through difficulties and worries and at times having fun along the way. At some point the therapy stops at an agreed moment by the client when they feel they have reached a more comfortable place in their life and in their relationships.

I am an Integrative Counsellor working with clients from age 7 to beyond retirement age with issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, loss, bereavement, low self-esteem, family issues, relationship or work-related issues. My clients are from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and are of different genders and sexual orientations. Our life experiences help shape who we are today. We cannot change the past but with help, we can question our thought processes and let go of disruptive patterns of behaviour. Improving our overall emotional and physical wellbeing starts with talking about our issues.

FAQ - About Child Therapy
When does a child need to see a therapist?
Children naturally experience emotional ups and downs. Sometimes, though, they need support from a professional. A child may benefit from therapy if their emotions or behaviours change significantly within a short period of time. For example, if a child usually spends time with friends after school but begins isolating in their room, further inquiry is warranted. Other areas for concern include altered sleep patterns, lack of appetite, intense anger, irritability, or hopelessness, or developmental regression in young children (bedwetting, thumb-sucking).

What can a child therapist help with?
A therapist can help with any difficult experience a child may encounter growing up, including learning problems or anxiety related to school, relationship challenges with friends or parents, bullying, intense emotions or phobias, divorce and family dynamics, or the death of a pet or loved one. A therapist can help children process their experience and develop coping skills in an age-appropriate way

What therapy types are most suitable for children?
Children can benefit from different forms of therapy, including family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy, depending on their condition. Play therapy is a great option for younger children who may not be able to fully articulate their feelings. In this approach, kids play with toys and games while a therapist observes and helps the child express their emotions and develop coping skills.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
