I am an integrative therapist that qualified in 2008. I’ve worked with a range of clients with diverse presenting issues and I have 17 years’ experience of working with adults presenting with historic, childhood sexual abuse. This is why the counselling relationship is very important to me and is key in helping to achieve your goals. I initially use the Person Centred approach to create a safe, non-judgemental, contained, therapeutic space for you and will work at your pace.

I support my clients in their search for meaning, and often see how unravelling the knots in relationships, tending grief, and exploring suffering can lead to a sense of purpose. I often witness how this process can be initiated through nurturing connections with embodied parts of lived experiences. An important piece in the therapeutic process is attuning to the messages from within, and I support the process of listening.
My work is trauma informed, and seeking understanding of how the body holds or ‘keeps the score’ (Bessel Van Der Kolk), is something we can look at together.

You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or a general sense of being stuck or disconnected. Perhaps you've tried therapy before and found something missing - it helped to a point, but didn't quite get at what keeps you struggling. You might recognise you keep encountering the same difficulties in different relationships or situations. Or you understand intellectually why you feel or do certain things, yet find it difficult to change. You're looking for more than symptom management - you want to understand the patterns underneath your struggles and find a way forward that feels genuinely different.

Life can feel like a battlefield when childhood wounds, complex trauma, and the scars of abusive relationships leave their mark. You may find yourself stuck in painful cycles of overthinking every interaction, doubting your self-worth, or repeating patterns that no longer serve you. Perhaps you carry the weight of people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, or an inner voice that never seems to quieten. You might wonder, “Why can’t I just move on?” You’re not alone.

Are you struggling with painful sex, erectile dysfunction, low desire, or the impact of sexual trauma? Perhaps you're feeling stuck in relationship patterns – unable to connect as deeply as you'd like, or caught in recurring conflict.
These issues can feel isolating – but they’re more common than you think, and you don’t have to face them alone. Therapy offers a safe, compassionate space to explore what’s going on, understand where these difficulties come from, and begin to move toward meaningful change.

Is your mind like a browser with 47 tabs open (and at least 12 of them are replaying that thing you said three days ago)? You're the person everyone calls when they need help, which is lovely except you’ve forgotten how to say no. Rest feels impossible when there's always another task, another message to answer, another way to make sure no one's disappointed in you.
You're exhausted. Not just tired, but deeply depleted from years of striving and performing. And somewhere underneath all of that, there's a part of you wondering what it would be like to stop trying so hard. To be wonderfully imperfect and still feel worthy of love.

Sometimes, you feel that you can talk to trusted family or friends. However, at this moment, a private, secluded space may be what you need because you feel depressed, low, anxious, scared, or hopeless because of a current situation or something that happened in previous relationships. As a result unwanted thoughts or images keep feeding overwhelming feelings and unwanted behaviours. These feelings, thoughts, and behaviours feel too difficult to understand, manage, or share with anyone, leaving you feeling alone or misunderstood. I offer privacy and a trusted space where you can share your experiences at your own pace.

The main approaches I use are attachment-based (psychodynamic, MBT and TFP) but I also draw on ideas from CBT, systemic and DBT.
I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years experience. Individuals coming to see me may be considering therapy for a specific concern or difficulty (e.g. anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties) or have a specific question, event or life transition that needs attention. Others may have noticed that they are stuck in unhelpful and painful patterns. Or perhaps wanting to get to know themselves on a deeper level or change the way they interact with themselves.

I believe with compassion, acceptance, non-judgement, the willingness to be present, and genuineness, a good therapeutic relationship can be built to facilitate the conditions where a psychological shift can take place.

I work very relationally, often helping my clients make sense of themselves and their difficulties through understanding early experiences, current relationships and their therapeutic relationship with me, and how patterns in one area can often offer understandings about another. I draw on a range of therapeutic models and modalities, including psychodynamic, person-centred, existential, cognitive and behavioural, transactional analysis, and attachment theory. My starting point is always the client, and I believe strongly that the therapy should fit the client, not the other way around.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
