Finding the right therapist for you is as much about their style and personality as their qualifications. I value warmth, collaboration, and humour when appropriate and I endeavour to bring these qualities to my practice. My work is integrative which means I can use different theories to suit each individual client's needs. I draw on relational psychoanalysis, attachment theory, Internal Family systems, ACT and humanistic approaches. I am also influenced by my interest in film and literature. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I work with people who feel stressed, depressed, anxious, or perhaps a little bit lost and need some help to relax, feel more self confident and balanced, and more able to cope and enjoy their life more happily. We can all feel down, depressed, and lost at times, but with gentleness, patience, and support it can be changed. Some of my clients just need some help getting clear on their aims and goals and taking actions to get there. Some clients need more ongoing support to help them cope with day-to-day stresses, and also with building their self confidence and
self esteem
.

Hello and Welcome. My interest in psychotherapy has developed over years of working in conflict environments and as an Executive Coach. So often, clients brought issues to coaching that needed deeper exploration: anxiety, depression, relationship problems, loss, bereavement, addiction to food, alcohol or other substances to relieve stress, low
self esteem
, and self-limiting beliefs. Counselling and psychotherapy provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can work through issues that are of concern to you. The therapeutic process can help you to make changes in your life, develop self awareness and improve well-being.

I am a qualified relational psychotherapist and counsellor, offering both short- and long-term therapy for individuals and couples. I am practised at working with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship issues. But whether you're struggling with something specific, or you can't put your finger on what's wrong, I can help you feel more equipped to deal with life's challenges, and more comfortable in your own skin.

I am an integrative transpersonal therapist (BACP, MA) focusing on issues with self-worth, anxiety, love, relationships, and relational traumas. My gentle and empowering approach integrates body-focused therapies and transformational modern psychology research into a simple talking therapy format. I know from my experience that our traumas and challenges are not separate from our growth process or signs that something is “broken” or “unlovable”,we just have not yet had a container to integrate these parts. My passion is working compassionately at depth and offering a friendly, judgment-free sanctuary.

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
