I am an Attachment-Based therapist, offering individuals, couples and groups a safe and confidential place for support, exploration and transformation. In addition, I'm fully trained in EMDR and offer standard and Attachment-Based EMDR approach. I believe that a respectful and non-judgmental environment is crucial in therapy, and this is an essential element of my work. I always welcome whole authentic feelings from my clients, without putting a negative label on them. To be able to explore overwhelming feelings such as: guilt, embarrassment, shame, anger, fear, and many others, without feeling judged, requires trust to be present.

No two people arrive at therapy in the same way. I recognise that everyone’s experiences are unique, and I draw on a range of integrative approaches so that our work together feels meaningful and relevant to you. My work is grounded in a person-centred approach, where meaningful change can begin when you feel genuinely heard, accepted and understood. Together, we can create a space where you feel safe to explore what matters most to you and make sense of the challenges you’re facing. As awareness grows, there may be opportunities to respond in ways that feel more authentic and aligned with who you want to be.

I work individually with adults who are struggling with emotional or mental health difficulties. I do not like to categorise people, I prefer to take an individualised approach. This means we would spend some time trying to figure out what is going on, and then working together to improve your situation.

I provide psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapy for adults who are experiencing difficulties in their lives and who are interested in understanding themselves better on a deeper level. I offer a safe and reliable space to explore how past experiences have shaped how you feel about yourself and about others today. Making sense of the often hidden and unconscious meanings behind your feelings, thoughts and behaviours alleviates distress, and provides an opportunity for deep seated changes personally and emotionally.

As a psychodynamic counsellor I am committed to providing a non-judgmental space to explore that what brings you to therapy. Working together to uncover what may be behind your anxiety, stress, mood swings or depression and bring understanding to personal coping strategies. I work with the pretext that past experiences profoundly shape the present and therefore by examining how your personal history intersects with your current life, we shine a light on the more neglected parts of the personality.

Hi. I’m Mirek. Some people seek help because they experience a variety of emotional challenges (e.g. depression, anxiety, addictive tendencies, issues within relationships, unhelpful patterns of relating, and they want to feel better. Counselling and psychotherapy can help with it, but most importantly it can help with changing internal landscapes so that we then better understand how we function and have an idea where our troubles come from. Knowing that it is then easier to manage ourselves with anything that live throws at us. There is nothing better than a sense of freedom from old unhealthy patterns of relating!

Does life feel like its getting on top of you? Could you benefit from a place to take some time-out? At certain times we all experience difficulties and doubt, go through life transitions (career change, divorce, new relationship, mid-life crisis) or discover patterns in our lives that are un-supportive. Seeing a counsellor or psychotherapist can help you face these challenges and turn them into an opportunity for personal growth.

Is this a time in your life that feels difficult? Life can be somewhat challenging and overwhelming at times. Counselling is a process that gives you space and time, in a confidential environment that allow you to express yourself freely enabling you, to make better sense of your feelings, emotions and fears. It is important that during this process you remain an individual and we find a way for you to express your thoughts and feelings, making it's essential to work with a flexible approach tailoring our work to your needs.

Starting therapy can feel daunting. Your therapist will provide a non-judgemental and confidential space to allow you to safely talk about whatever concerns you. The clinician knows how brave it is to begin therapy and will be sensitive to how you are feeling. Together you and your therapist will engage in a process so as to understand whatever difficulties you are facing. You might feel a sense of underlying unhappiness, dissatisfaction, a lack of motivation, or lethargy. Or you may feel anxious which can evoke a sense fear and stuck ness.

Bipolar Disorder Counsellors
What is the most successful approach to treating bipolar disorder?
Living with bipolar disorder can be challenging, and a number of therapies have been found effective in providing support to patients as they gain the skills to understand and manage the disorder. Family-focused therapy is often helpful for children and teens (the majority of cases develop before age 19); it aims to minimize mood cycling by improving family communication and reducing conflict. It also helps young people navigate the developmental challenges the disorder can create. Cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) and variants such as Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)help patients manage the thoughts and feelings that influence bipolar mood swings as well as develop specific behavioral strategies to counteract them.

What happens in therapy for bipolar disorder?
Because the patterns of mood switching and its triggers differ for each person and can change over time, mood tracking or monitoring becomes a basic way patients learn about the nature of their condition. One of the most common features of therapy is finding a workable method of mood monitoring, in which patients track their daily activities and rate their moods, then use the findings to adjust routines accordingly. Patients learn ways of handling the many stresses that arise in life so that they do not trigger mood swings.

What kinds of problems does therapy help with?
Like many other mental health disorders, BPD is heavily influenced by stress; therapy provides skills for coping with stressors of all kinds. Therapy is extremely important for helping individuals identify the situations that may trigger mood switching, so that mood swings can be prevented. Therapy may especially target recognition of the early stages of mood change so that they can be managed. In addition, therapy helps patients deal with the significant amount of turbulence the disorder can create in relationships and in work life.

What is the goal of therapy for bipolar disorder?
Therapy helps patients set up their lives to maintain stability so that their mood isn’t constantly threatened by daily events. Perhaps the first task of therapy is to educate people about the nature of the disorder. At the same time, a primary goal of therapy is to enhance adherence to drug treatment. Extended periods of mood stability can prompt patients to discontinue medication, triggering relapse, while the early phases of manic episodes can feel so energizing that patients stop medication, ushering in full-blown mania and the altered self-perception that can lead to destructive behaviors. Another major goal of therapy is to understand one’s mood patterns so as to minimize both the frequency and intensity of mood cycling.
