Clients often come feeling caught between different expectations, cultures or parts of themselves. Outwardly they may be coping but inwardly feel unsettled, disconnected or unsure where they belong. This can follow life changes such as grief, migration, relationship endings or transitions that shift identity.
I also work with grief and loss which may arise from bereavement, relationship endings, migration or the loss of a future that was hoped for. Grief can feel intense and overwhelming or it may appear more subtly.
I offer a calm space to slow down, reflect and begin making sense of what feels difficult to name.

Choosing a counsellor is a big step which can feel daunting. How do you find the therapist who will be right for you? If you are new to counselling, the various theoretical approaches listed by therapists can be confusing. Current research shows that more important than the theory is the therapeutic relationship (the relationship between you and me) and this is the cornerstone of my work. My theoretical approach is Integrative, drawing on the Psycho-dynamic, Humanistic and Existential schools within a relational working model which emphasizes the Humanistic philosophy and embraces Person Centered core process.

Hello and welcome. Perhaps you've found this page because because staying the same no longer works for you - it's too painful. And some part of you is ready for support to help things shift?
Modern life can be extremely demanding; relationships, work, families, money, health and social challenges, or even the simple act of daily living can all feel overwhelming. I believe that how we cope with these challenges is shaped by both our present circumstances, and our past experiences, sometimes echoing patterns of which we are unaware.
Whatever is bringing you here, therapy can offer a space to pause and reflect.

Do you find yourself living mostly in your head — coping, pushing through, and holding everything together — while your body carries the stress, tension, or unspoken emotions?
You may be experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, grief, or feel disconnected from yourself and others, or stuck in patterns like people-pleasing and self-doubt. You could be navigating life transitions, or searching for meaning, direction and more joy. Many people come to therapy carrying past experiences, feeling stuck in emotional loops, as emotions are not only held in thoughts but also in the body as tension, numbness, or a sense of being on edge.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
