Being trained psychodynamically, enables me to look at patterns & coping mechanisms that may have been set down in the past but that are repeating, unconsciously and often unhelpfully, in the present. Often these come to light when a crisis - bereavement; the end of a relationship; redundancy; illness - occurs. Perhaps an overwhelm of anxiety, depression & panic attacks have led you to this page now... By offering an authentic, non- judgemental & confidential space I can help you to explore the difficult feelings which you are experiencing, to enable you to understand and process what is occurring now, so as to navigate the future.

Maybe a little voice inside has been telling you for a while that things are not ok...the word " therapy" keeps popping up....acknowledging it takes courage and wisdom. It might be a current crisis or on-going emotional difficulties stopping you from enjoying life. Therapy can be a unique experience which can be transformative, and in which we can safely access the true essence of ourselves. It is a meaningful journey on many levels. Many of life's challenges which are seen as "normal "by society actually involve trauma. These wounds left unattended to can lead to many issues such as anxiety, shame, anger, depression, addiction.

I believe psychotherapy should aim to do nothing less than improve the quality of your life in a tangible and lasting way. Often the initial answer lies in asking the right questions. Over years of experience as a psychotherapy assessor and case manager, I’ve developed a skill for fostering curiosity to draw together seemingly disparate threads in your story. This process not only leads to new understanding but also provides space to address the challenges we often keep hidden — and to unpack them with more care and honesty than day-to-day life may allow.

Whatever issues you are facing right now, I offer a safe, confidential and judgement-free space in which we can reflect on them and, by better understanding your conflicts and experiences, grow in self-awareness and autonomy. I believe in the importance of building a trusting relationship with my clients, so that we can work together toward constructing meaningful relationships. Talking freely about whatever comes to mind is the main way to explore what is beyond our logical, rational mind.

Domestic Abuse Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.
When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.
What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.
How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
