I specialise in treating insomnia and chronic sleep problems, having received training from the University of Oxford in the "gold standard" of insomnia treatment, CBTi.
My approach is one of compassion, curiosity and warmth. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy; you are the expert in your experience, while I have knowledge and skills to help you understand why you think, feel and act the way you do. Together we can explore your experience and formulate your difficulties, so that you can gain clarity on what might be keeping you “stuck” in unhelpful patterns and make changes in order to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. I believe the ultimate goal in life is to become more and more yourself and that being able to live authentically is what makes us most fulfilled.

Hi, thanks for stopping on my profile. It can be tricky to know which therapist to contact. The best therapist is the one who you feel most comfortable talking to. This is your life, your journey. Whatever it is that made you open this website, hurts. Talk to someone who empathises and can help you to improve how you feel about yourself.

Many experience ongoing sleep difficulties, broken sleep, or a constant sense of being “on edge,” despite understanding what’s going on in their lives.
I offer calm, paced, body-led support for adults and teenagers experiencing nervous system overwhelm. My work focuses on stabilisation and capacity, helping the nervous system settle so sleep, anxiety, and exhaustion can ease. I draw on nervous-system–informed approaches including CBTi and therapeutic hypnosis.

Choosing a therapist can be a stressful process, and it's difficult to decide which kind of therapy to try. Many people find it helpful to work with a therapist who has trained in more than one therapy, who can switch to a different therapy when needed, and who can tailor sessions according to your needs. My 16 years experience in supporting neurodivergent clients (with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia or other difficulties) led me to further training in 2021 in autism, and specialised CBT and ACT for ADHD and emotional regulation problems.

Sometimes life feels like it’s crumbling a little or a lot. You might look like you’re holding it together on the outside while quietly feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or pulled in too many directions. Perhaps you’re a young adult searching for direction, a parent supporting a child, or someone carrying more than you let on. You don’t have to hold this alone. I’m a UKCP-registered integrative psychotherapist offering warm, grounded support for children, teens, young adults, adults, parents and carers.

Hello, I’m Nia! I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. Life often asks us to carry more than we realise. Past experiences, cultural and family expectations, or inner struggles can leave us feeling heavy, uncertain, or disconnected from ourselves. Just as the body needs care to heal, so too does the mind and heart. Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and gently reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been forgotten along the way. For me, therapy is less about “fixing” and more about exploring, remembering, and realigning at your own pace, in your own way.

I blend psychology with functional health — exploring how stress, sleep, hormones, and the body impact your mood.
Root-cause therapy for anxiety, burnout, trauma, difficult attachment/relationship patterns, eating and personality disorders. You’re emotionally exhausted, stuck in self-critical loops, self-sabotaging, or navigating persistent anxiety, mood swings, trauma, eating or relational struggles that repeat no matter how hard you try. You may have tried therapy before, but it didn’t quite reach the deeper layers. I offer Schema Therapy — a powerful, compassionate model to heal longstanding emotional patterns. I blend Schema Therapy with CBT, ACT, CFT and mindfulness across lifespan. Together, we find lasting change, not just quick fixes.

Therapy can be a life changing experience, a time for growth, exploration and personal development. You may be coming in the hope to resolve some past or current experiences or you may feel overwhelmed, confused, lost, stuck. You might be experiencing difficult symptoms and unhelpful behaviours that inhibit you from living your life to the full. Perhaps you struggle in your environment to fully thrive. I welcome people of any gender identity, sexuality or with any relationship style. I deeply respect difference and actively practice anti-racism. Together we can work on whatever might be the right approach for you.

Sleep or Insomnia Counsellors
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
