I combine an empathetic supportive approach, humanistic methods and solid clinical experience and offer a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to explore, understand and process their loss, emotional struggles and major life changes to be able to start adjusting to their changed life.
Life can become overwhelming, confusing, and difficult to manage. Experiences such as loss, bereavement and major life changes like a medical crisis can make us lose our sense of self and purpose. Depression, anxiety and personality disorders can distort our sense of self, rob us off our full personal potential and quality of life leaving us feeling depleted. Therapy is a place to regain and restore your sense of self and purpose and to help you turn these experiences to an opportunity to grow.

I have seen over and over that the process of healing is quicker when we both go beyond our minds and work with all of us. I am informed by my professional learning as integrative counsellor, as well as my values and lived experience of bereavement, loss, migration, and single parenting.
Feeling anxious, stuck or overwhelmed can be a lonely and confusing place. Often, we fear being a burden or being judged - an inside voice saying 'my problems aren't big enough' or 'others have it worse'. As the result, difficult emotions we bottle up surface as anxiety, depression, inability to sleep or crying for no reason. When we are properly supported through therapy, this can bring greater understanding and change of perspective. It also brings about healthier coping skills that lead to improved relationships and greater control over our feelings and actions, creating a more fulfilled and meaningful life.

Life has a tendency to throw major challenges at us without warning. You may find yourself dealing with a specific life changing circumstance such as a new diagnosis, bereavement, traumatic experiences, relationship difficulties or redundancy to name a few. Sometimes being able to pin point feelings can be a little difficult. You may be experiencing feelings of being stuck and are anxious, depressed or just unsure of how you currently feel about your life or a certain situation.

Asking for help can be really daunting. If you are here, reading this, and have recognised that you might benefit from the kind of support that therapy offers, then you have already taken a big step. There can be lots of reasons you might benefit from therapy. You might be dealing with a difficult time, such as an illness, bereavement, a separation. You might be feeling stressed, anxious, lost or low more often than feels ‘ok’. You might want to understand yourself better, why you feel and behave the way you do, or want to feel more alive.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
