Hi, thanks for stopping on my profile. It can be tricky to know which therapist to contact. The best therapist is the one who you feel most comfortable talking to. This is your life, your journey. Whatever it is that made you open this website, hurts. Talk to someone who empathises and can help you to improve how you feel about yourself.

Hi, I'm looking forward to hearing from you! I want to hear your concerns and support you to work towards the things that matter to you most. I believe therapy should happen in a friendly, nurturing space in which you feel safe and comfortable to bring anything you want to talk about and work on. I usually suggest exercises and other resources to complete in between sessions in order to keep the work progressing. As an Accredited EMDR Therapist as well as a clinical psychologist, I am able to use the therapy approach most appropriate for your concerns.

Let's be honest -
You are here because would like something to be different.
You are ready for change.
You know the pain of over-giving.
The ache of people-pleasing.
The weight of high-functioning.
And the silent exhaustion of always saying, “I’m fine,” when inside, you are actually anything but.

You may have come here with something specific troubling you, or perhaps a quieter sense that things aren't quite right; that anxiety, low mood, or difficulties in relationships are pointing towards something deeper. The questions that matter most to you – who you really are, what gives your life meaning, why certain patterns keep repeating – feel like they deserve more than symptom management. You are looking for something more than a quick fix; you want to be genuinely understood.

Body Psychotherapy is a holistic form of psychotherapy which naturally incorporates the body within the psychotherapeutic process. Our life experiences are experienced in the mind, and also felt, sensed and held in our bodies. As in other forms of psychotherapy, we work together to understand and therapeutically work through the issues you face. Together, we explore your skills and talents that you can utilise and explore the ability and capacity to heal, develop self-awareness and open the way for new modes of being. The support, growth and transformation occur through the quality of the relationship we form together.

Others are going through major life events such as divorce or bereavement, and may be suffering from stress, insomnia and guilt.
CBT is based on the concept that thoughts, feelings and actions are interconnected and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. By finding alternative, more positive ways of thinking and behaving, and by learning specific skills and coping strategies, emotional distress is reduced and resilience for future problems is developed.

People often feel unsure about starting therapy and it can feel like a big decision to make. I would suggest a one-off consultation to meet. This will allow us time to think together about whether you would consider working with me and how I might be able to support you in making changes to improve your situation.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
