They include problems within relationships, parenting issues, bereavement, stress at work, low self-confidence and more.
I have worked with hundreds of clients in the many years of my practice. I am able to engender trust, and communicate an understanding of what a client is trying to express, so that they can feel truly 'met'. This allows for us to work at depth.

These may be relationship issues at work or in your personal life bringing feelings of sadness, anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression.
Together, we may look at unhealthy patterns and dynamics that you have become aware of or that you are now feel are limiting you, or making you feel unhappy, lost, anxious or depressed. This may help you understand why you act or react the way you do, freeing you to see how you can choose to start to making better choices moving forward.

Maybe, you face difficulties in your relationships, or find yourself at a crossroads in your life.
Exploring how we interact and relate to ourselves, others and the world around us can help to recognise unhelpful patterns and transform our sense of self. Past experiences can have a lasting impact on us and affect our interactions in the present. I offer empathy, openness, and acceptance to allow for an open dialogue on the journey of self-discovery.

I work with individuals and couples using an integrative approach that combines insight-oriented, existential, and narrative perspectives with evidence-based strategies such as cognitive behavioural techniques.
People often begin therapy when recurring patterns start to interfere with how they want to live or relate to others. You might feel overwhelmed by stress, unsure how to respond to challenges, or aware that something needs to change even if the next step isn’t clear. Therapy offers a structured way of working toward change, whether that involves gaining perspective, developing different responses, or addressing longer-standing difficulties.

I am convinced that the most important factor in therapy is the trusting therapeutic relationship.
I draw from several therapeutic and psychological theories to tailor an approach that will suit your needs and allow us to work together. I use a psychodynamic lens to explore your current difficulties - for example how you feel about yourself or others – which may be strongly influenced by past experiences and early childhood relationships.

I believe a good personal connection is of vital importance, and hence offer our initial session for free. With so many years in the field I'll almost certainly have experience with whatever you bring, and I'll listen fully and without judgement. Clients often say it's a huge relief to finally share, as the root of so much pain lies in an awful sense of isolation and shame, a feeling of 'What's wrong with me?' We find ourselves nursing a raw wound yet dread being seen as needy or vulnerable. It’s hard reaching out for help, but we consult professionals in all other areas so why not here where it actually matters the most.

I work relationally, and thus the therapeutic relationship becomes part of the therapy.
It is hard when you're not feeling at your best - whether it be a low mood, feeling vulnerable, anxious, or lonely - to even get through the day, never mind having a good one. Maybe you're not getting enough support, or even the right kind of support form your friends and loved ones. Talking to a counsellor is different, as it offers an alternative environment to everyday life - free from judgement - and experience being accepted and understood. Under such conditions, when enough trust is built, we will hopefully be able to explore your material and work through whatever is getting in the way, while increasing your self-awareness.

Practicing mindfulness in relationship, I seek to offer a safe, non-judgemental space in which to deeply explore and integrate with kindness and compassion, orienting to your inherent health and wisdom, thus enabling you to move beyond your patterning and changing your relationship to yourself and others.
I have experience with a range of issues, among others: grief, depression and anxiety, trauma, childhood trauma and abuse, self-esteem, attachment and relationship issues, disordered eating and self-harm. Originally a dance and movement practitioner I have worked as a craniosacral therapist since 2007; both inform my deeply embodied approach to CPP.

We are here to support you on your journey toward greater control over your emotions, behaviour and relationships.
DBT and MBT programmes consist of both individual therapy and group component. People come to therapy with me when anxiety, low mood, guilt, grief, or relationship difficulties have started to feel harder to carry alone.
My approach is warm and collaborative, with space to reflect and make sense of what you are experiencing. I work integratively, drawing on person-centred and psychodynamic therapy, with elements of CBT, to explore emotional patterns and everyday ways of coping shaped by past relationships and present pressures.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is key to the success of therapy.
I have over 20 years' experience and I am committed to supporting your wellbeing and mental health with understanding, empathy and compassion. I use an integrative approach, meaning that I draw on various models of therapy including psychodynamic and person-centred approaches to facilitate transformation, growth and well-being. Music interventions can be utilised as part of therapy, and you can choose to use music, talk or both. Music can provide non-verbal expression and can help people process, understand and regulate their emotions.

My approach integrates: Psychodynamic and CBT Therapies, with a Relational and Humanistic emphasis on authentic relationship. My practice has a foundation in Mindfulness and a radical acceptance of the human condition.

I specialise and have most interest and experience in working with trauma ( including relational trauma), abuse, PTSD, childhood emotional neglect, anxiety, sexual and porn addiction and attachment and relationship issues .
I believe that we tend to access therapy when it’s no longer possible for us to travel alone on our journey, hidden from ourselves and others, stuck in familiar and/or unfamiliar patterns that can no longer contain us, and when the way in which we are relating (or not relating) to ourselves, others and the world around us, is no longer making us feel fully alive. Something tells us it's time to look inwards. Looking inwards can feel daunting but it is necessary in order to instigate meaningful and lasting changes ( both external and internal ).

Relationship Issues Counsellors
What types of relationship issues can therapists help with?
Therapists who specialise in relationships work with individuals, couples, and families on a wide range of issues. Common concerns include communication problems, infidelity, intimacy difficulties, and navigating major life transitions such as marriage, parenthood, or caregiving. Family therapists may also address parent–child conflict, sibling rivalry, or other complex family dynamics.

What are the different types of therapy for relationship issues?
Relationship issues can be addressed through different types of therapy depending on whether you’re seeking help as an individual, couple, or family. In individual therapy, the focus is often on helping an individual understand how their own patterns, attachment style, and past experiences may be shaping their current relationships. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) are three common forms of individual treatment that can help individuals understand their current relationship dynamics and improve their relationship quality. Couples therapy often uses other forms of evidence-based treatment, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) or the Gottman Method. Rather than focusing on the individual, these approaches focus on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional bonds between individuals in a relationship. Similarly, family therapy often focuses on communication but also examines how larger-scale dynamics—such as how parenting styles, generational differences, or sibling roles—may shape family relationships.

What actually happens in a therapy session for relationship issues?
The structure of a session depends on whether therapy involves one person or multiple people. In individual sessions, the focus may be on exploring personal patterns, role-playing difficult conversations, practicing listening skills, or setting goals for handling conflict. In couples or family sessions, each person is encouraged to share their perspective while the therapist helps uncover underlying emotions, highlight unhelpful interaction patterns, and guide more constructive communication.

How can I find an effective relationship therapist?
Finding a therapist who is a good fit for your needs, either for individual, couples, or family therapy, is critical to ensure effective therapy. Psychology Today’s online directory makes it easy to search for therapists who specialise in relationship issues, as well as related topics like marriage counselling. The platform offers filters to help you find a provider who fits your needs, such as gender, location, and fees. While the Psychology Today directory also offers the ability to filter by insurance type, it’s important to note that insurance may not cover many types of relationship therapy, such as couples counselling, so it’s important to inquire with your insurance plan about specific coverage details if intending to use insurance for therapy.
