Before beginning therapy and psychoanalytic training I studied philosophy and religion.
Many of the issues we face in life can be hard to deal with alone. With help, thinking about who we are, what we want and what is wanted from us we can identify and address problematic areas in our relationships with ourselves, with others and with the world of work and love, overcoming obstacles and reducing our suffering. I offer a safe and secure space in which to articulate whatever may be playing on your mind. The way I practice is non-directive, meaning that you decide what you want to talk about and when so can explore what may be troubling you at your own pace, either in person in east London or remote.

Psychodynamic framework is based upon classical and contemporary psychoanalytic theory, practice and research.
Life’s challenges can be overwhelming, often leaving us grappling with anxiety, depression, or a sense of being at odds with the world. Difficult past experiences and deep-seated emotional wounds can become so ingrained that they insidiously distort our sense of self and the way we move through life. It’s therefore understandable that we sometimes end up stuck in cycles of self-sabotage, low self-worth or chronic stress. What may seem to us like inherent limitations in those situations—both internally and externally—are often shaped by unconscious assumptions and outdated patterns of thought.

Using psychoanalytic and psychodynamic approaches, I address various mental health challenges.
As a Psychotherapist, I support individuals navigating life changes and challenges. It is natural to experience anxiety, depression, or feelings of stagnation at times. You may be struggling with a lack of motivation, the effects of trauma, or the pain of loss. Work-related stress, relationship issues, and the desire for personal growth are also common concerns. Therapy offers a safe space to explore and understand these experiences, helping you build self-awareness, develop coping strategies, and strengthen your relationships.

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviours. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.
How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behaviour is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.
Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.
Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
