Hi! I'm Jonathan. Thank you for taking a look at my profile. I know that it's difficult to choose a psychologist, so here is a bit about me and if you'd like a chat before meeting, let me know! I recognise how important the therapeutic relationship is, so initial contact is about creating a safe space for us to work together. We will focus on your goals for therapy and develop a collaborative understanding of your story, and what may be contributing towards any difficulties. I am trained to work with a variety of difficulties from low mood, anxiety and adjustment to trauma, low esteem and family difficulties, amongst many others!

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns of anxiety, low mood, or self-doubt. Perhaps you’ve been carrying a lot for a long time, or finding it difficult to feel heard and understood in your relationships. You want to understand yourself more deeply — to move beyond just coping and begin to feel more grounded, clear, and in control of your life. You’re looking for a space where you can reflect honestly, make sense of your experiences, and begin to move forward at your own pace, with support that feels steady and non-judgemental.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is based on the idea that present difficulties can be shaped by unconscious motivations, often linked to earlier formative experiences. These influences may show up as symptoms, persistent questions, or repeating patterns in relationships and everyday life.

My ideal client is an adult who feels stuck. Maybe it's anxiety, low self-esteem, difficult relationships, or the weight of past experiences that still affect the present. Often they are going through a change and want a space to think clearly and feel less alone. Many of my clients are professionals and expats building a life far from home. I work in English and Italian.

I’m a clinical psychologist offering private therapy alongside my role as a senior psychologist in the NHS. I draw on personal and professional experience to offer guidance within a warm, non-judgemental space. I like to work together with my client, exploring their needs and preferences and then offering ideas informed by a range of psychological models. The models I draw on most are Schema Therapy and third-wave CBT therapies such as ACT and CFT. Often our work involves uncovering and strengthening resources that people already have or getting in touch with lost values.

I have over 10 years experience helping people overcome a range of psychological difficulties including PTSD, cPTSD, OCD, depression, anxiety issues, low self esteem, attachment issues, disordered eating and more.
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations or patterns with our thinking or relating that we aren't able to find our way forward from on our own and this is where therapy can be very helpful. Therapy is non judgemental and supportive but at times challenging and even though it can be hard, most people find that therapy is worth the effort.

I believe that we tend to access therapy when it’s no longer possible for us to travel alone on our journey, hidden from ourselves and others, stuck in familiar and/or unfamiliar patterns that can no longer contain us, and when the way in which we are relating (or not relating) to ourselves, others and the world around us, is no longer making us feel fully alive. Something tells us it's time to look inwards. Looking inwards can feel daunting but it is necessary in order to instigate meaningful and lasting changes ( both external and internal ).

They may be struggling with emotional pain, relationship challenges, trauma, or mental health issues and are looking for a non-judgemental place to explore their feelings and needs. Their goals often include developing self-awareness, breaking free from patterns that hold them back, and learning new ways to live with resilience and purpose. They seek a supportive and attuned therapist who can walk alongside them on their journey toward healing and change.

I am a person-centred counsellor and body psychotherapist. Person-centred counselling is about taking a deep interest in you and your life, without judgement. In working together, we will enquire deeply into who you are, how you make meaning of the world, and what's been happening to bring you here. Alongside this, I work with the body as a way of deepening emotion. We all carry a degree of tension, conflict and unresolved emotions in our bodies. Body psychotherapy offers a direct route into these via the use of attention and breath. Body psychotherapy can help with anxiety, depression, ADHD and a range of other conditions.

It can feel hard, sometimes impossible, to change the way we think, behave and react to certain situations. If you gain an increased understanding by exploring patterns then this can help you make sense of things, which can help you feel more in control and manage emotions that otherwise feel overwhelming. The therapeutic relationship is unique. I lay the foundation for the work we can do together. Feeling truly understood can be a rare experience that allows you to open up and to discover more about yourself. With an increased self-awareness can come a more regulated way of being and thinking.

Starting therapy can feel daunting, and I understand what a brave step it is to begin this process. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental space where we can explore what’s bringing you to therapy, including any feelings ‘stuck-ness’ or overwhelm that you may be experiencing. We’ll work together to set meaningful therapy goals, and I’ll regularly check-in with you throughout the process to ensure the therapy is helpful and aligned with your needs.

I work online with adults navigating for example anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, OCD, procrastination, feeling stuck, or carrying something you've never quite been able to put into words.
My background is unusual for a therapist. Before training as a counsellor, I spent about 2 decades as a researcher studying how the brain and mind develop. That knowledge gives our sessions more depth without ever making them feel like a seminar. I am a BACP qualified Integrative Counsellor & Coach, drawing on a range of evidence-based approaches.
