I believe that we tend to access therapy when it’s no longer possible for us to travel alone on our journey, hidden from ourselves and others, stuck in familiar and/or unfamiliar patterns that can no longer contain us, and when the way in which we are relating (or not relating) to ourselves, others and the world around us, is no longer making us feel fully alive. Something tells us it's time to look inwards. Looking inwards can feel daunting but it is necessary in order to instigate meaningful and lasting changes ( both external and internal ).

The aim of therapy is to enable you to enhance your life and to live it more fully. Together we will recognise and explore patterns in yourself and others, what your triggers are and where those patterns may have originated.

Hello, I'm Matthew (he/him), and if you're grappling with experiences such as addiction, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, it's important to know that you're not alone. What you are struggling with didn't just appear out of nowhere. Your struggles have a history, a context, and a relational meaning. They are often adaptive responses to a lack of support or unmet needs, which you may have normalised into habitual patterns of behaviour.

I work with a person-centered perspective, which means we talk about what is most important to you, offering a compassionate space that is confidential and free from judgement, where you can discuss what is troubling you. I am trained as an Integrative therapist, drawing upon a number of approaches, and we collaborate on working together in a way that is most useful to you. With your hopes regarding therapy in mind, we work at your pace and focus on your needs. In doing so we may explore past experiences, reflect on what affects you in the present, and together work on ways of thinking and behaving that you may wish were different.

I offer a safe, non-judging and confidential therapeutic space where thoughts and feelings can be shared and explored. The therapeutic journey I believe can serve as an opportunity to uncover one’s inner resources and resilience, as well as an opportunity to discover new and more flexible ways of relating to oneself, others and life. My psychotherapy training is in a mindfulness based approach called Core Process Psychotherapy (CPP). This particular approach integrates concepts of mindfulness and awareness with modern psychological perspectives and theories.

If you are seeking counselling and psychotherapy, it may be because you are dealing with a specific issue or going through a particularly difficult phase for which you need support. You may have tried to resolve things by yourself but somehow, it didn’t quite work out. You may have found yourself in the all-too-familiar place of slipping back to your old patterns of thoughts, feeling and behaviors despite all the promises and repeated attempts at changing them. Or you may feel that we are doing OK, presenting to the world a well-functioning mask of personal efficiency or professional success, but deep feeling empty and alone.

My clients come to me with many different issues including stress, depression, anxiety, loneliness and sex and relationship problems. Most people I meet have been trying to deal with these issues and become stuck, unable to find a way through and in need of some help and guidance from a professional. I help my clients by providing a supportive space in which we discover new perspectives on their problems and develop effective strategies to overcome them. This has helped my clients gain a richer understanding of themselves and what they care about, enabling them to create a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

My approach is Holistic and Integrative. Holistic means that we work with 4 different layers of your being: your physical, mental, emotional and energetical bodies. If you’re open to, we will work with breath, mindfulness, chakras, energy blocks and dreams too. My experience shows that the process of healing is quicker and more efficient when we work with all of you rather than only your mind.
