Do you need somebody to help you understand and manage the challenges in your life in confidence? My approach is existential, which does not judge emotional suffering but looks instead at how you uniquely experience the world. I will help you explore your lived experience in terms of your relationships; your emotional well-being; and your values, choices and sense of purpose. You may come at a time of distress with a particular difficulty, or you may have reached a stage when you want to deepen your understanding of yourself. I offer a safe and supportive space where you can begin to make sense of whatever is troubling you.

Would you like to get relief from panic, health, social or generalised anxiety? Or stop obsessions, intrusive thoughts and mental or physical rituals from governing your life. Maybe you are autistic and you like to explore your experience and difficulties. Or would you like to learn how to better manage your ADHD and develop efficient strategies. Is your goal to experience less anxiety in relationships? Would you like to be close to someone, but can't? Do you suffer from low-self esteem and nothing you achieve seems to help? Maybe you'd like to explore your sexuality in a sex-positive kink allied space.

If you wish to bring clarity to your situation, to change your perspectives and feelings about yourself and your life, to combat your difficulties and to create positive changes for yourself, perhaps the therapy with me could be a first step in the right direction. I provide a professional and confidential space where you can feel welcomed; where your thoughts and feelings can be talked about without a fear of being judged or criticised; where we can explore the reasons that brought you to therapy, your present difficulties and influences from the past; where you can achieve greater insights and understanding of yourself.

I have trained in existential psychotherapy, and I apply this in my work with clients. The starting point is the experience of the client, to provide the opportunity for them to examine their understanding of life, and the problems and dilemmas they face; to reassess their goals and desires. It provides an opportunity to consider how their choices have been constrained, perhaps by the views and expectations of others, but also by constraints rooted in our society. Understanding can lead to questioning, and growth, possibly in new directions.

People start therapy for different reasons; some may have a particular difficulty that they wish to work on (e.g. relationship difficulty, loss), while others may notice repeating patterns and so may wish to understand self better, deeply - why do I feel in the ways that I do? Why do I respond in these particular ways? Why I keep on finding myself in similar relationships / around a particular type of people? Such understanding of the self on a deeper level offers opportunities for developing more helpful perspectives and ways of managing emotions and relating to the outside world, thus allowing to grow psychologically stronger.

Hello my name is Nicola, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. In our busy lives it is often difficult to allocate time solely for ourselves, to gift to ourselves the opportunity to explore what may be hurting or limiting us. In essence what may be stopping us from living full and enjoyable lives. Choosing to enter therapy, to allow yourself the time to be listened to and heard without judgement is to choose a powerful and rewarding gift. Working together in a way that is comfortable for you, I offer a safe, compassionate and non judgmental space, that allows you to give yourself the permission to explore your feelings.

I would like to help you. As a bisexual woman, I know the challenges of navigating identity and sexuality. That is why I approach every story with an open mind and empathic curiosity. I will engage you from a non-pathologizing, sex-positive, gender-affirming stance, so that you may embrace every part of yourself. I provide individual and couples therapy, as well as sessions for those in alternative relationships. Together we can navigate our way through your relationship and personal challenges, overcome cultural limitations that seek to restrict us, and ultimately find inner joy during times when it appears out of reach.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I am here to help you navigate the complexities of your emotional life. My work is centred on helping you understand how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and relationships shape your current reality. By bringing these influences to light, we can work together to create new, healthier ways of engaging with the world around you. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can explore your inner world at your own pace. Therapy is an opportunity to gain deeper insight into yourself, and while this can feel challenging, it can also be profoundly rewarding.

“What you resist, persists”! Said Carl Jung. We often resist or deny certain feelings or parts of ourselves that we do not accept, do not want and therefore, refuse to see. It might be painful or seem impossible to face difficult feelings like sadness, guilt, shame or anger. Maybe it is too embarrassing to admit some feelings to another person. Part of our work is about finding the hidden bits and exploring them in a safe space. Maybe you don’t know why you feel the way you do, but if you are reading this, then something isn’t right for you and you would like to change it.

Divorce Counsellors
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
