The last few years have been difficult for many. I work with adults who are finding it hard to cope with the challenges life presents, perhaps, anxiety and stress, relationship issues, loss and bereavement, depression or sadness. I also work with people who are struggling in their work or career. I offer both individual and relationship counselling. Sometimes my clients feel overwhelmed and seek opportunity to offload, sometimes they want to dig deeper in order to gain some insight into their lives with a view to making changes. I'm an experienced counsellor and I also work as a supervisor to other counsellors.

Some transitions seem too much to bear. Like changing a job that doesn't fulfil us anymore, or leaving a relationship that has run its course. Making the decision can seem impossible. We make lists, examine the risks, and weigh the pros and cons. But we can end up going around in circles, justifying any or all options. This can be so frustrating and mentally exhausting. Even once we've decided, uncomfortable or painful feelings may arise. We doubt our wisdom, or grieve what we’ve lost. We feel anger at having to go through this. All this can leave us feeling lost and disorientated, like walking through fog.

How long does career counselling typically last?
The length of career counselling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counselling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counsellor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.
How to prepare for career counselling?
Clients can prepare for career counselling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counsellor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation.
