I offer therapy sessions in-person and online via Zoom.
Hello, my name is Paul, and I help clients navigate personal and professional challenges. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked 20+ years in finance and business development, which helps me understand the demands of high-performance corporate environments. When our life, relationships or jobs don’t go as we want, it may lead to stress, feeling down, depression, or burnout. Together, we can build awareness of what’s going on beneath the surface and how it affects you. Awareness gives you more control over how you respond and relate. So you feel better equipped to deal with challenges, both now and in the future.

We all experience times of uncertainty, loss and change and I believe we all benefit from sharing our burdens with someone else, in a safe and non-judgemental way. I understand seeking psychological support can feel scary but my approach is open, warm and accepting. I work collaboratively with people, treating all information in the strictest confidence. My aim is to empower each person to develop their own skills, building resilience to manage difficulties, in the present and going forward.

At present, I can offer appointments virtually and in-person.
You may have a specific concern that you'd like to work on. Or it might be that you would like to uncover longstanding patterns that have troubled you. Maybe your goal is to understand yourself better in general. As a Clinical Psychologist, my role is to support clients to make sense of their situation/themselves using compassionate, research-led approaches that are effective in practice. Through therapy, it might be that you uncover further goals and want support in deciding your next steps, I can help with that too.

Most people want to feel good within themselves and within their lives. I don’t think this is too much to ask. If obstacles have previously prevented this, it does not mean the future need be the same. Change is always possible and often we need a helping hand. I am passionate about collaboration as the most empowering route on a therapeutic journey. You have the strength and the answers and together we can make sense of any hurt, obstacle or fear.

I am a London-based UKCP and BACP accredited Integrative fully qualified Psychotherapist. I am also a trained coach so weave these two skills into my practice. I specialise in relationships – the most critical being the relationship we have with ourselves, but also our partner, siblings, parents, our children, friends and work colleagues. I also specialise in helping people in highly demanding jobs. I used to work in corporate consultancy and so know first-hand the stresses of such an unforgiving career. Thus, I am more likely to ‘get’ the struggles of what it is like in your role.

Therapy isn't just for working through complex issues—it can also be a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect. In the fast pace of modern life—whether managing a business, balancing work and family, or navigating creative or personal challenges—it's easy to lose your footing. I offer a grounded, supportive space where you can slow down, gain clarity, and explore whatever's on your mind.

I find that most clients are struggling because they lack coping strategies to manage distress, but also often because they are out of touch with what is important to them, their values, their strengths, their preferred life directions, and there are barriers such as anxiety, fear and/or emotional discomfort which lead to avoidance and other unhelpful behaviours. In turn, these factors thwart their goals and increase distress. Clients want reduced distress and increased pleasure and engagement with a life in which they can feel confident and empowered.

If you spend your days keeping it all together, but lie awake at night feeling anxious, flat, disconnected or not enough, you are not alone. Things can shift, so you can begin to feel happier, more connected, and able to move forward personally and professionally with more calm, purpose and confidence.

I offer face-to-face sessions and currently have availability in Liverpool Street (Fridays) and Highgate (Thursdays), and online via Teams.
Why reach out for counselling? Sometimes something comes out of the blue, difficult things from the past begin to surface, or many small things build up and overwhelm us. We feel anxious, low, or angry. Sometimes we simply don’t feel right but we don’t know why. Whatever’s going on for you right now, talking can help. By thinking together about the difficulties you’re experiencing, we can come to a greater understanding of what lies beneath. We can identify default patterns and find empathy and compassion. Understanding and insight can lead to resilience and the potential for change

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
