If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your emotions, stuck in painful or confusing patterns, or disconnected from yourself or your partner - whether you’re an individual or a couple, I can help. Many of my clients are high-functioning outwardly but privately struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, addiction, relationship distress, or a persistent sense of emptiness. They seek clarity, emotional relief, and a deeper understanding of themselves - unconscious patterns, unmet needs and deeply held beliefs. This understanding creates more connection, new insights that help them make healthier choices, and build more fulfilling relationships.

You may be looking to come to therapy because you feel stuck in unhelpful patterns, are struggling with difficult emotions, or are facing a period of change or uncertainty. You might also want space to think more clearly and understand yourself better. I have extensively worked with individuals experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, hopelessness, anger, ADHD related challenges, and family or relationship difficulties. Therapy offers space to explore your situation in greater depth, and to understand how earlier relationships and experiences may be influencing the way you feel, think, and relate in the present.

Starting therapy can feel daunting. Your therapist will provide a non-judgemental and confidential space to allow you to safely talk about whatever concerns you. The clinician knows how brave it is to begin therapy and will be sensitive to how you are feeling. Together you and your therapist will engage in a process so as to understand whatever difficulties you are facing. You might feel a sense of underlying unhappiness, dissatisfaction, a lack of motivation, or lethargy. Or you may feel anxious which can evoke a sense fear and stuck ness.

In a busy world full of judgements and rules, I can offer you a space where your thoughts and worries will be heard, acknowledged and respected. I offer a compassionate, safe and confidential environment that supports the exploration and expression of feelings, thoughts, beliefs and circumstances that may be having an adverse effect on emotional well-being and quality of life. Sometimes we just need a space to be still and reflect, a space where we feel accepted, understood and supported in gaining a deeper awareness into why we behave the way we do, or that can offer us an alternative perspective on challenging life situations. My aim is to support you in making sense of your life and working with you in moving to where you would like to be.

You might be struggling with your personal relationships or a situation in your life; maybe you lost someone; maybe the one you struggle with is yourself. In any way, life can get challenging sometimes. I work individually with people over 18 years old who find themselves wanting to work through these difficulties to achieve change in their lives. This change might take many forms: from learning to manage your anxiety, ending a relationship or starting a new one, grieving a loss, finding your voice, to wanting to feel a greater sense of peace and happiness in your life.

I am someone who cares about the well-being of others which led me to qualify as a BACP Accredited Person-Centred Counsellor. My counselling method is built on person-centred counselling plus adapting to the clients’ needs and creating a unique style for each client. We tend to place such a focus and emphasis on our physical health, whether through dietary or physical exercise but can easily neglect our mental health. Our mental health is just as important as it is a part of what makes us who we are. We all deserve to have a healthy well-being and I believe that counselling is a method to which this can be achieved.

I believe that finding the right counsellor for you can be incredibly helpful. Why choose me? I am down to earth and very genuine and come from a London Irish working class background. I have a lot of experience working with various issues such as bereavement. I have a special interest in working with those who have experienced emotional abuse in childhood or as an adult and the legacy that can leave. Whether by scapegoating and golden child dynamics, sibling abuse or due to intergenerational trauma. Exploring the issues you are now having in a supportive and non judgemental environment can allow you to find a way to move forward.

My approach is based on dialogue. I believe therapy can offer a safe space for self-discovery providing an opportunity to creatively discover how you want to live. I am inclined to listen to how an individual describes their world, as I believe each person experiences life in a unique way that can rarely be communicated to someone else. I have worked extensively with individuals facing challenges such as anxiety (towards a specific situation and generalised), depression, breakdown of a relationship, grieving, work issues, infertility and addiction. I also focus on the metaphysical meaning of physical illness to improve wellbeing.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
