Hello, I'm Zheng, a Clinical Psychologist of Chinese heritage, trained in the UK, with extensive experience working in the NHS. If you're exploring therapy, I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where we can work together to make sense of what you’re going through. I take a collaborative, holistic approach, influenced by my deep interest in culture, philosophy, and spirituality. These parts of you are welcome in our work together, and I hold space for them with thoughtfulness and care.

Life at times can be challenging, people can often feel isolated and stuck in their struggles, confused about what to do to change the things in life that are troubling them. Reaching out can be hard, trusting others can feel even more difficult. It's at these times that therapy can make a difference. I am a sex-positive, kink-knowledgeable psychotherapist and am familiar working with a range of relationship models and gender dynamics. I work with people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, including individuals from straight, queer, poly and kink communities, sex workers, and people who identify across the gender spectrum.

Starting therapy can feel daunting, but it can also be the beginning of meaningful change. Many people I see are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or stress related to work and relationships. Others come during times of transition, loss, or when something in life feels “stuck.”
My approach focuses on exploring the deeper patterns and unconscious processes that shape how you feel, think, and relate to others. Therapy offers a reflective space to understand these patterns and to develop new ways of managing challenges.

Love is complex. We can all encounter relational or intimacy struggles as we try to find our place in the world romantically or sexually. Becoming comfortable with who we are or with others can be challenging. Modern ideas on love include the freedom to choose the kind of relationship that works best for us. Contemporary relationships defy conventions, and in today’s world, where diversity intersects with all aspects of life, understanding love requires a deep dive into the societal, neurobiological, and the emotional landscapes that shape it.

I am a very experienced therapist and Depth Psychologist having worked within the NHS and Private Practice for 30 years. I am a Senior Jungian Analyst, a Training Analyst, an Examiner and Supervisor. I specialise in working with people experiencing relationship difficulties, those suffering from depression, anxiety, low self esteem and intrusive thoughts. An emotional crisis is a call for personal growth, for insight and to a new path through life. The belief that symptoms have meaning leads to a more positive approach and outcome, so that suffering is not in vain but the prelude to a more meaningful life.

You might be experiencing difficulty in relationships in general or in one relationship in particular, or finding work a challenge, or maybe you are unhappy about the quality or direction of your life. Perhaps you are feeling flat or low, stressed or anxious, or even quite desperate. Exploring and expressing your thoughts and feelings with a professional can help make sense of these difficult experiences, and allow space for solutions and opportunities to arise. I aim to offer you the best support I can for this process, with a respectful, sensitive, honest and empathic approach.

You are not broken. You may be feeling emotional pain, distress, or psychological strain, but that doesn’t mean you are damaged. These responses often reflect your strength and resilience. What you're experiencing is an emotional build-up, not a breakdown. You might be living with anxiety, depression, grief, low self-worth, or trauma. Over time, you may have built defences to cope and protect yourself. These patterns helped you survive, but they are not your truest self. Healing begins by gently reconnecting with the parts of you that have been hidden, and making space for who you truly are.

You noticed you started to become excessively self-conscious in social settings. You feel everything you say has high stakes, so you’d rather not say anything at all than suffer the possible embarrassment. You can become controlling and snappy in stressful situations and are left wondering how the things you feared the most ended up happening. Your relationships are roller coasters that leave you befuddled, sad, and exhausted. You end up being isolated, absent from connection, and convinced to your core something is wrong. It’s just that you can’t put your finger on it. You wish you were able to take a step back and see clearly.

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist which means I might chose to pull my approach from several different modalities depending on each clients needs. I specialise in areas of trauma/abuse, identity, relationships with self and others, life transitions, bereavement, pre/post natal and anxiety. Our work will be non-judgemental and grounded in honesty, trust and mutual respect. The space we create for you to explore within will be supportive, safe and compassionate. There will be challenges; often this work is about processing deep rooted beliefs and thought-processes/patterns that require committed ongoing reflection and action.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
