Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counselling in East London
Seeking therapy is a sign of courage in the depths of conflict. Currently, you may be troubled or overwhelmed, not knowing what is happening either within you, your partner or communicatively between your couple. To be understood and appreciated while conveying the same qualities to another person is an essential component of any satisfying relationship, but it is one that takes an emotional commitment from those involved in finding a resolution. The question I often ask my clients is, "Can you bear the difference of the other, or even tolerate the possibility that they may have a different perspective to the one in your mind?"

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be affected by past experiences that still feel present, experience challenges in relationships, or find it difficult to express your needs and set boundaries. At times, you may feel low, disconnected, or not quite yourself. You might feel anxious, overwhelmed, unable to switch off or concentrate, or feel stuck and unsure how to move forward.
Sometimes there is a clear difficulty. At other times, especially in a fast-paced and demanding world, there may simply be a sense that something is not quite right.

As a BACP registered and accredited counsellor, I have substantial experience both in public sector organisations, and as a private practitioner, and have worked with a wide range of complex issues, supporting people to make successful changes in their lives. My focus in therapy is on a person's life and relationships, past and present. I regard symptoms or behaviour patterns as expressions of distress connected to life circumstances. My style is fairly active, but I'm careful to listen and check what I have heard. I pay attention to a person's narrative, including successes as well as difficulties. I am happy to share knowledge that might help my client or point to resources. Most of my work is relatively short term (12 sessions or less). Typically I start off with a questionnaire which includes client ideas about the goals of our work together.

Psychotherapy supports you to find a deeper connection with yourself and cope with the challenging parts of living. Our sessions are a supportive environment for you to speak without censoring yourself and I will listen with an open heart and mind.
Ultimately I believe you hold the answers, and I actively avoid assigning labels or pathologising what you are experiencing. Instead I'm here to listen, offer an outside perspective on the issues you bring, and support you to get curious about yourself.

I have always been fascinated by the complexity of human beings, their darkness and their lights. I consider the therapeutic room not only as a space for self-reflection and exploration of what feels difficult to process on your own, but also a place to speak the unspeakable. Therapy can provide an opportunity to challenge behaviours that may appear unchangeable or automatic. As a practitioner I am interested in the integration of cultural and gender studies and have experience working with depression, isolation, sexual identity, existential difficulties, relational dilemmas and bereavement.

Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re navigating a life transition, coping with emotional distress, or seeking greater self-understanding. You may be experiencing low mood, anxiety, relationship difficulties, questions around identity, loss, or finding yourself caught in repeating patterns. Many people come to therapy wanting to better understand their relationship with themselves and with others, and how these patterns affect their lives. Therapy can offer a supportive space to reflect, develop insight, and build a greater sense of agency in how you move forward.

I am a BPC Registered Psychotherapist offering short or long-term in-person and online sessions from therapy rooms in Hackney, London.
I believe that we all at some point find ourselves at a place when we need to talk, be listened to, be heard and understood by someone other than those who are close to us. To do this, I provide a safe and confidential space where we can think together, to identify the past and present issues that affect you now and, together, develop the awareness and strength that will allow you to make meaningful and lasting changes in your life.
