Many of my clients may feel anxious, low, or disconnected, often carrying the impact of trauma, identity struggles, or cultural pressures. They want to feel more in control, better understood, and more connected to who they are. Many are seeking a space where they can reflect without judgment, understand themselves more deeply, and begin to shift patterns that no longer serve them. They may not have had the chance to explore these parts of themselves before — therapy becomes a space to reclaim voice, agency, and self-trust.

I have recently completed the NAOS Advanced Diploma in Couples Psychotherapy (Level 7).
Anxiety around intimacy, relationships, or sexual concerns is incredibly common, and the overarching impact that these issues can have on your health and happiness is often underestimated and undervalued. Forming meaningful and honest connections with people including yourself, and feeling empowered to truly accept and project how you feel, good and bad, is challenging with sex and relationships being no exception. Shedding light on the unconscious and bringing new perspectives to your world can be the seed from which healing and personal development grow.

Most people come to therapy when something isn’t working anymore. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or worn down from coping on your own. You’ve tried to make changes, but the same patterns keep repeating. You know something needs to shift, even if you’re not sure how. I aim to offer a space where you feel genuinely heard, without judgment, and where we can begin to make sense of things and find a way forward. A strong therapeutic relationship is central to my work and provides the foundation for understanding patterns that may be keeping you stuck, clarifying what matters to you, and supporting you in building the life you want.

Hello, I'm Matthew (he/him), and if you're grappling with experiences such as addiction, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, it's important to know that you're not alone. What you are struggling with didn't just appear out of nowhere. Your struggles have a history, a context, and a relational meaning. They are often adaptive responses to a lack of support or unmet needs, which you may have normalised into habitual patterns of behaviour.

In my opinion a free consultation is a must so you can get a chance to discuss what’s going on for you and how counselling could help. It’s also a chance to get a feel if we are a good match with no obligation to continue. I would be glad to hear from you to see if I can help you. "What to expect? I have a flexible approach to our sessions, I offer brief intervention work for short term problems which may be a reaction to a life event. Longer term therapy for difficulties you may have been experiencing over a long period of time.

Being disconnected from your partner erodes your wellbeing, while being reluctantly single can leave you frustrated and disillusioned.
No question or topic is too outrageous or weird. My work is tailored around your needs and goals, drawing on CBT, DIT, RLT, ACT, CFT, systemic, person centred and psychodynamic approaches. Building a relationship with you, to be on your side and help you through what you are going through in a non-judgemental space, is the most important first step.

Marriage Counselling Counsellors
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
