I deal with both family and work relationships issues including loss, conflict, abuse and life transitions.
I offer you a supportive, non-judgmental and safe environment to express yourself confidentially. Working with me you can examine and explore the issues that cause pain, anger, fear, and sadness. In time you can feel less alone or overwhelmed, gain deeper insights and new perspectives, and begin to make more conscious choices.

I will use elements of other therapies, such as focused, somatic, inner child work, internal family systems, cognitive behaviour and art therapy.
Have you ever felt an unpleasant heaviness on your chest or tummy? A struggle to get the words out of your mouth that creates a lump in your throat that suffocates you. Have you ever felt like avoiding others for fear of getting hurt, or you may have felt disconnected and unheard? You want to show strength and courage instead, you feel afraid and helpless.

In-person is available on weekdays, with prior arrangement, priority given to family work.
People who sincerely want change and are willing to look within will find a committed cheerleader in me. Identifying unconscious patterns is often uncomfortable work. Learning to have grace and self-compassion in those tight spots ought to be taught in schools. Until then, there's person centred therapy. (Search 'Carl Rogers and Gloria' for a fantastic, if grainy intro to Unconditional Positive Regard)

I use kindness, curiosity and a constructive, non-blaming, problem solving approach to work with people experiencing complex challenges with trust, intimacy, infidelity, difficulties with family creation and becoming disconnected.
It takes courage to accept that aspects of life are difficult. You've worked hard. You have a successful career, others around you think you have a happy and complete life. But the responsibilities are challenging, your career is stressful, maybe it's not quite what you expected, either your relationship has lost it's spark, or you are struggling to find love. Maybe your future looks uncertain. Find a way back to a fulfilled, successful life. The one your deserve. I invite you to come to therapy. On your own, or with your partner, to improve your sense of self, re-ignite the fire of passion, and re-learn how to love and be loved.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
