I provide therapy to individuals and couples, working together in a collaborative way to achieve a positive outcome.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, and anxious, the emotional turmoil unbearable, as you struggle to make sense of it all? Do you feel alone, as you struggle to understand and manage your feelings and emotions internally? Together, we will explore your challenges. You will in turn gain insight, and understanding into the root cause of your issue. Tell me about your challenges, I will listen to you without judgment, we will move at a pace that is comfortable for you. You will create new coping strategies, for you to make positive changes to your life, enabling you to manage your life autonomously, leading to inner balance and empowerment.

I work with adult individuals and couples from many different backgrounds They can be in the grip of depression or battling with anxiety attacks or the after effects of traumatic experiences. Often though they come to counselling because they can't shake this nagging feeling that something is going wrong in their life and they can't even put the finger on what exactly that is, but they worry that they are missing something and don't really live their lives to their full potential.

I am an accredited member of COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists) and I abide by its Code of Ethics and Practice.
I believe sexual expression, sexual enjoyment, intimacy and meaningful relationships are integral elements of who we are. On many occasions we don’t talk about our problems and worries because of shame. Sex and Relationship Psychotherapy is a safe non-judgmental space where we explore and work together on those issues affecting your sexuality or your relationships.

Reaching out for support in your relationship is a brave step.
Myclient (s) would be couples or individuals who struggle in their relationships. Their issues would include communication, loneliness, depression, loss, struggling to find the couple after children, empty nest syndrome and many more. Their goals would be to understand the recurrent patterns that are putting strain on the relationship and resolve the underlying issues. Counselling and psychotherapy may involve exploring the past to the extent that it influences the present.

I believe the single most important aspect of successful therapy is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client.
I am a Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) therapist supporting individuals, couples and groups of all ages and identities to explore their issues. Whether you are coming to therapy to make a change, make sense of yourself or past experiences, or simply want someone to listen to you, I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for you to explore your life, relationships and concerns. Whatever your goals, together we will try to understand and address any repetitive patterns of unfulfilling behaviour and gain insight into how past experiences have come to shape present-day experiences.

I am a couples counsellor and relationship therapist, and integrative therapist for individuals.
Therapy can be a great tool to help you navigate relationships and life experiences, and to understand what is shaping our responses, behaviours and patterns. I offer an empathic and grounded place for you to explore openly. Together we will build awareness of what might be impacting your present, and equip you with strategies for the future. I blend a range of models that emphasise attention to our whole selves, self-awareness, and growth potential. Central to my approach are psychodynamic theories (how our past influences our present) and the significance of relationships (within couples or as individuals).

Hi, I'm Mary (she/her), I'm passionate about supporting people with anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and relationship issues. Is your mind constantly racing, worrying whether you said or did the right thing? Wondering if people like you? Did you make the right decision? Do you find yourself beating yourself up when you feel like you've got something wrong and find it hard to let go of things. Maybe you find it hard to stand up for yourself. Life can be so overwhelming sometimes we can feel like we don't want to be here. It's exhausting isn't it! I'm guessing you're here because you're fed up and want something to change. I can help you.

This is a collaborative work based on the therapeutic relationship we develop.
It’s not unusual to have feelings that weigh us down and reach a stage of great distress and hopelessness. Whether you feel you are in crisis or just want to get to grips with thoughts and feelings that may be disturbing you, I can help. You might feel anxiety, depression, anger or shame. You might be having relationship problems or going through big changes in your life like the loss of a loved one or a job that have a big impact on you and you need help to cope with. Or there may be something inside you that you have lived with for some time and that gets in the way and prevents you from leading a fuller and happier life.

I have a particular interest in working with couples using the Prepare-Enrich program.
Life is complex and at times, it can be difficult to navigate the waters of this journey to know and understand the place you have in this world. Many factors can affect the journey such as depression, anxiety, trauma and relationships with self and others. I offer a non-judgemental, empathic confidential and compassionate space where you can expect support and containment to explore themes and patterns around self-destructive thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Therapy helps us to develop self-compassion, to quieten our critical mind and to experience a calmer and more peaceful life. It is about learning to accept ourselves

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
