Life can be hard, but you don't have to travel through it alone. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space to share any difficult thoughts, feelings or past memories that may be troubling you. Through developing a therapeutic relationship of trust and safety, we will work collaboratively together to reach a specified goal, allowing space for deeper insight and understanding of your self along the way. There is no right or wrong way to do therapy. I offer both in-person and online therapy, long and short term, at a pace that is most comfortable for you.

Seeking therapy is a sign of courage in the depths of conflict. Currently, you may be troubled or overwhelmed, not knowing what is happening either within you, your partner or communicatively between your couple. To be understood and appreciated while conveying the same qualities to another person is an essential component of any satisfying relationship , but it is one that takes an emotional commitment from those involved in finding a resolution. The question I often ask my clients is, "Can you bear the difference of the other, or even tolerate the possibility that they may have a different perspective to the one in your mind?"

This is a collaborative work based on the therapeutic relationship we develop.
It’s not unusual to have feelings that weigh us down and reach a stage of great distress and hopelessness. Whether you feel you are in crisis or just want to get to grips with thoughts and feelings that may be disturbing you, I can help. You might feel anxiety, depression, anger or shame. You might be having relationship problems or going through big changes in your life like the loss of a loved one or a job that have a big impact on you and you need help to cope with. Or there may be something inside you that you have lived with for some time and that gets in the way and prevents you from leading a fuller and happier life.

Being heard, accepted and validated helps us to develop a better relationship with ourselves helps us build more fulfilling relationships with others.
I am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor, with several years’ experience supporting individuals privately and in the voluntary sector. I provide therapy which is accepting and supportive to enable you to safely and creatively explore what it is you are struggling with. We can all become stuck or disconnected at times. Therapy can help us slow down for a moment, feel safe enough to re-connect with ourselves. It is then possible to reflect and discover what it is our bodies are telling us we need to move towards change or to feel freer in ourselves. I provide short, medium, long-term and open-ended therapy to adults.

The authentic relationship between us is at the heart of my practice.
I provide a warm and confidential space to support you in finding your own way. Often, to give voice to what's troubling you offers relief. We'll also discover and affirm your talents, achievements and strengths, as we travel the road to growth and evolution. I don't take the 'blank screen' approach, meaning I don't stare at you in silence. If I don't share my thoughts with you, the therapy is only taking place in my head. I value you for the unique individual you are. This kind of environment can be rare to find, and powerful to experience. Clients have said that they feel supported by me, and that they've gained fresh insights.

I specialise in therapy for anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family issues and workplace stress.
We are always striving to keep all of our responsibilities in balance - work, relationships, our own expectations, and those of others. This constant juggling doesn't leave much time to process our emotions. If you come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, wanting a space to explore something, or simply wanting to talk, I am here to help. Perhaps you have noticed patterns in your behavior or dynamics within relationships, intimate or family, that you feel stuck in, but you want to make a change. Together, we can build confidence through self-awareness, kindness, compassion, and psychoeducation.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
