There are times in our life journey which we all have our share of good and bad experiences. Sometimes the bad experiences can either overwhelm or leave us in a place where we feel bruised and unable to cope. Together we can explore your experiences enabling you to develop a new personal understanding of yourself in real life settings. I can provide short or long-term therapy the choice is yours to make. To create a safe place within your home or office in which your voice is listened to. Support you to overcome your present and future difficulties.

Hello there and welcome to my profile. Clients are always welcome to bring any issue to therapy, no matter how big or small they may feel it is and would like support with their issue. They have a desire for change. They've come to therapy because they would like to explore, understand themselves better, their issue and the emotions surrounding it. To process what is or has happened. To make a real lasting impact. I offer a competitive rate because I truly believe that therapy should be as accessible as possible.

The choice to start psychotherapy may come for a variety of reasons. Becoming aware of repeating patterns of behaviour, struggling in personal and professional relationships, coming to terms with a particular traumatic event, or with feelings of depression, lack of purpose and meaning. Ultimately, there will be a unique reason for each person. Whilst my work takes into account the influence of the past onto the present, it also places as much attention to the future and to the fact that in the present psychological suffering there may be the potential for a meaningful new direction.

I work in a compassionate and loving way, offering a place to rediscover yourself, become motivated and energised to thrive and grow every day. Exploring past trauma and reconnecting with the inner wounded child to release any tension, stress and anxiety that comes from past experiences. Creating more space for the NOW we give ourselves a chance to live fully here and express our capabilities in an exuberant way. I offer different approaches so we can identify what works for you and build on that with an open mind and a willingness to focus on overall wellbeing.

You've found yourself in a place in your relationships/work/family life that you weren't expecting. Feeling stuck, maybe sad, depressed or just not sure which direction to move in? Past traumatic experiences are showing up for you, you don't know who to turn to or how to deal with the past in this moment. Change is imminent, you can either go with what you are being pushed to do by others or take time out to connect with you, what's the right thing for you in your life? Maybe you are an entreprenuer, a start up or work as a therapist, you're on the cusp of success or have arrived at where you wanted to be and lack future direction.

I am still accepting new clients for a fee £63 per session, couples for £85 per session and I am offering phone and video sessions via Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, Facebook, WhatsApp or any other online platform also for clients who are distancing or quarantined. At the moment I am helping lots of clients with anxiety as well as self-esteem issues as that is something that lots of clients struggle with, however, the spectrum of the problems I work with is much broader.

Hi! My name is Maria Goga and I am a London based therapist. I have a background in the performing arts, having also trained as an actor. My creative pursuits enhance my practice, as I learnt the importance of empathy through acting and being able to understand and give life to characters completely different from myself. I use this experience in my therapeutic practice - I am very good at putting myself in someone else's shoes and I never judge someone else's experience - which I believe is the cornerstone of counselling. I work in an integrative way with a focus on the therapeutic relationship.

Sometimes people believe that their issue is not "worthy" of receiving the therapist's attention, but this is never the case. I am here to offer you a safe, calm, confidential, non-judgmental space, and listen to whatever you want to bring into therapy, no matter how serious or benign you might be finding it. Certain issues that you might want to address in therapy include: anxiety, depression, chronic illness and pain, family and/or relationship issues, academic and/or work pressures and stress, as well as cultural and identity issues.

Do you feel like you’ve lost yourself in the chaos of everyday life? Maybe you’re constantly tired, struggling to keep up, or finding it hard to connect with who you once were. Life’s demands can leave you feeling disconnected—from yourself, from others, and from the things that used to bring you joy. If you’re weighed down by anxiety, trauma, or just the exhaustion of trying to keep it all together, you might wonder if you’ll ever feel like yourself again .I get it—it’s tough when it feels like you’re running on empty, trying to juggle everything and barely finding a moment to breathe.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
