I also work with individuals experiencing high levels of anxiety and stress in their lives, relationship difficulties, late diagnosed ADHD, as well as people recovering from traumatic events, including narcissistic abuse.
One of a few in the UK to be certified by ICEEFT as Emotionally Focused Therapist for couples (EFCT) and individuals (EFIT). EFT is a very effective, evidence-based approach informed by attachment theory and is so successful in helping people become more aware of their emotional experience and get better at self-regulating and navigating difficult feelings.

My clinical focus is trauma recovery, with a special interest in narcissistic relationship dynamics and domestic violence healing.
You may feel emotionally overwhelmed or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You might be struggling with the impact of past trauma, difficult relationships, addiction, or painful childhood experiences. At times you may feel confused about your emotions, question your reactions, or find it hard to trust yourself and set boundaries. What you may be looking for is clarity, emotional stability, and a deeper understanding of yourself. In therapy, we can begin to explore your experiences, reconnect with your sense of self, and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

I have expertise working with survivors of Narcissistic Abuse, whether that is in romantic, family or workplace relationships.
Hello my name is Nicola, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. In our busy lives it is often difficult to allocate time solely for ourselves, to gift to ourselves the opportunity to explore what may be hurting or limiting us. In essence what may be stopping us from living full and enjoyable lives. Choosing to enter therapy, to allow yourself the time to be listened to and heard without judgement is to choose a powerful and rewarding gift. Working together in a way that is comfortable for you, I offer a safe, compassionate and non judgmental space, that allows you to give yourself the permission to explore your feelings.

I have a particular clinical and theoretical interest in states of depersonalisation, derealisation, trauma, and borderline and narcissistic personality organisations.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy involves helping you to identify and understand recurring themes and patterns in your relationships. Although certain ways of relating may have been conducive to your survival at one point, you may now be experiencing their cost. Psychotherapy aims to make these relational patterns conscious and thus more amenable to change.

My clients are usually thoughtful people who have spent years trying to understand themselves and others. If this is you, you might be wondering why you're still struggling with feeling low, anxious or like nobody really gets it. I’ll tailor therapy to you we can move beyond just the insight into what’s keeping you stuck and towards actually building a life that feels more connected to yourself and others in a way that feels meaningful and authentic to your values.

Fear, anxiety, grief, loss and traumatic experiences can get in the way of self-acceptance and self-compassion. Without this, it is difficult to move forward with life and live well in the here and now. I work with clients to live well, whatever their circumstances and however they define living well. Our work together motivates changes in perspective, which leads to changes in feelings, thoughts, choices and behaviour. Although it is not a linear trajectory these changes can and do happen, with the right support, even in the most challenging of circumstances.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Counsellors
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
