Developing understanding and change through therapy maybe feels scary, or exciting, or both. I have years of experience supporting adults at all different points in life to tap into their courage and grow. I take a curious, explorative and active approach, using evidence based therapies such a EMDR and compassion focused therapy (CFT).

You may be living with the effects of trauma, anxiety, or long-standing emotional distress, alongside feeling overwhelmed or misunderstood due to ADHD or autistic traits. Past experiences may have involved masking, burnout, or invalidation, leaving you feeling exhausted or unsure of yourself. You might be a busy individual with limited time or feel that weekly therapy hasn’t worked for you. I offer neuroaffirming therapy alongside EMDR intensive therapy to help you process difficult experiences, reduce distress, and gain clarity, supporting you to move forward with greater self-understanding, stability, and confidence.

Beginning therapy can be difficult, that’s why I believe in creating a bespoke experience for all my clients to ensure their needs are met within my therapeutic limits. Perhaps you have reached a point where continuing without help has proven to be impossible and affecting your relationship - not only with others but yourself too. Then it’s time to work on gently, compassionately healing those parts that are no longer serving you. If you have experienced: childhood adversity, identity difficulties, migrations and cultural challenges, relationships blocks, then this might be the approach for you.

I am a BACP registered psychotherapist who has experience of helping people (individuals and couples) at life’s most difficult junctions.
It can be helpful to look at early attachment patterns, behaviours and scripts which can help to uncover outdated modes of operation that can still (unhelpfully) rule our lives today. I work with clients to reframe unhelpful thinking patterns, regulate emotions and learn to relate to others in a healthy way.

I work with adults and couples.
You may be feeling overwhelmed or stuck, struggling with anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, or the impact of past experiences. Perhaps relationships feel challenging, emotions intense or confusing, or you’re juggling multiple responsibilities alongside other difficulties or trauma. You might be seeking clarity, a deeper understanding, or a way to navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence and purpose. As an existential psychotherapist, I see the value in re-examining responses and reactions to past events in order to aid a client’s learning and understanding, thereby allowing them to respond more positively to future events.

I offer individuals and couples a warm, supportive, confidential setting to talk about emotional difficulties which may be troubling them in their lives and relationships.
Relationships come in all shapes and sizes, and I encourage couples to value what they have achieved together while addressing current challenges. Some of the work involves looking at assumptions that have gone unexplored between partners. Loss and regret, if approached reflectively, can be the precursor to an enhanced enjoyment of life and relationships.

Yet for me every new client (or clients if you are a couple) marks the beginning of a new journey, a chance to experience the world from yet another perspective.
I offer you a safe place to explore your emotions and the issues that trouble you and will work with you to find solutions which will improve your life. Therapy with me is about preparing to make changes. I will help you release the thoughts that trouble you, your fears and despair and help you contain those most intense feelings so we can look deeper into the reasons why you are not functioning as you would like to. We can't always change the way those around us behave, but we can change our attitude to life and to others.

We believe that everyone is unique and therefore is dealt with in a way that best caters to his or her individual needs. We work with you by exploring your world to see how you engage with your life and the people around you. Along the journey, we will explore your past, look at your present and see how you perceive the future. We will help you become more aware of your values, beliefs and limitations and help you connect and improve your relationship with yourself. This process may be challenging, yet extremely rewarding as we access the changes you want to make towards living the life that you want to live.

Most people want to feel good within themselves and within their lives. I don’t think this is too much to ask. If obstacles have previously prevented this, it does not mean the future need be the same. Change is always possible and often we need a helping hand. I am passionate about collaboration as the most empowering route on a therapeutic journey. You have the strength and the answers and together we can make sense of any hurt, obstacle or fear.

Marriage Counselling
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
