Our ideal client is someone who feels unseen or misunderstood, whether they are a child, young person, or adult. They may be struggling with neurodivergent traits such as ADHD or autism, feeling overwhelmed by the diagnostic process, or carrying anxiety, stress, or relationship challenges. Their needs include clarity, understanding, and compassionate guidance. Their goals are to feel supported, to access the right pathways for diagnosis or care, to develop coping strategies that actually work for their daily life, and to feel a greater sense of belonging, acceptance, and hope.

Life can feel overwhelming when you’re carrying so much on your own. Maybe you’re feeling anxious, stuck, or unsure of who you are anymore. Or perhaps you just know that something needs to change, but you’re not sure where to start. Whatever you're facing, you don’t have to go through it alone. Sessions are relaxed and conversational; no pressure, just space to talk.

I work with individuals who are navigating emotionally complex inner worlds — often shaped by attachment wounds, loss, identity transitions, or long-standing relational patterns. My approach is relational, depth-oriented, and attentive to the nervous system. I offer a contained therapeutic space where patterns can be understood, felt, and gradually transformed — rather than simply managed. I typically work with clients who are seeking ongoing, committed psychotherapy and who are ready to engage in a process that unfolds over time. This allows the work to develop depth, continuity, and trust.

You are successful on paper. A high performer, a creative, a leader, or someone others come to for advice. But underneath, you’re carrying a weight. Maybe it’s anxiety that never fully leaves, a relationship that feels stuck, a career that looks right but feels off. You’re emotionally intelligent and self-aware, but that hasn’t solved everything. You might feel alone in your inner world, unsure how to move forward, or tired of cycling through the same patterns - in love, in work, in life. You want change, but not surface-level change. You want depth. You want meaning. And you’re ready for someone to really meet you there.

We all experience times of uncertainty, loss and change and I believe we all benefit from sharing our burdens with someone else, in a safe and non-judgemental way. I understand seeking psychological support can feel scary but my approach is open, warm and accepting. I work collaboratively with people, treating all information in the strictest confidence. My aim is to empower each person to develop their own skills, building resilience to manage difficulties, in the present and going forward.

I am trained in a range of evidence-based psychological therapies, to offer you an approach specific to you and your needs, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for anxiety/depression, attachment-based therapy for those struggling in relationships, exposure therapy for panic and anxiety, and solution-focused brief therapy.
I offer evidence-based therapy and coaching. I will help you challenge the way you think about your life, and to behave in new ways. We won’t just talk about the causes of your problems, like a lot of therapy. I tend to work with successful people who on the surface are doing OK, but underneath are really struggling. I'm not the expert on how you should live your life; but I can help and guide you towards feeling better and living the life you want. I've co-written the book on what the evidence shows makes up the best therapy – A Straight Talking Introduction to Therapy. So, you can be reassured you're in good hands.

My work is informed by psychodynamic, body psychotherapy, attachment-based, person-centred, existential, transpersonal and trauma-informed theories.
Hello and welcome. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed by past experiences, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or disconnected from who you truly are. You might be navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or exploring important questions around identity and belonging. Whatever brings you here, I offer a reflective, non-judgmental space where you can openly express and explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences and honour truths that may have remained silenced, unseen or unheard. Together, we can begin to reconnect with your inner truth as a pathway to deeper self-understanding and greater choice.

My name is Ali — I’m a multidisciplinary artist and Integrative Arts Psychotherapist. I work individually with pre-teens, teenagers, and adults who, for whatever reason—diagnosed or not—are struggling to make it through the day. Whether you are a rational thinker who's intellectualizing no longer works or an artist creatively blocked, I draw upon my experience as an artist and psychotherapist to help you nurture the ability to play, create, and discover the choice-making child within you; a child unburdened by the story of your experiences and one who is able to turn pain into beauty.

Maybe you can see where you want to be and don't know how to get there, or maybe you just feel totally lost.  Are you finding yourself repeating old patterns, or in habits that you just know aren't helpful, but don't seem to be able to stop? Maybe you're avoiding things in life because it just feels too much. You might understand what the issue is, and why it’s there - and yet you still feel the same. Or is there something you really could do with talking about, but you've been putting it off, or you just aren't sure where to start? You are not alone. I can help - in London, Hertfordshire, and across the UK online.

Would other people say that you’ve made a success of your life but you feel like there’s something missing? Would you like things to be different but have no idea what this would look like or where to begin? Perhaps you’ve realised that your trusted patterns of behaviour and coping strategies are no longer working for you, leaving you feeling stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. Events in our lives can leave us feeling uncertain about the future and questioning who we are and where we would like to go next. Counselling and psychotherapy offer the breathing space to make sense of your life and what you might like to be different.

My clients have spent years holding everything together while silently battling anxiety, low mood, overwhelm or burnout. They may be high-achieving in work or life, but feel exhausted, disconnected, and stuck repeating patterns like people-pleasing, hyper-independence or shutting down emotionally. They want to feel calm in themselves, confident in their choices, clear on their boundaries, and free from old survival patterns. Their goal is not just “to cope”, but to finally feel like themselves again.

Most people experience anxiety or depression at some point in their lives and need to cope with pain and confusion. You may feel stuck and unmotivated or need to work through a traumatic experience from your past so you can move on with your life. You might also experience work related stress or be dealing with relationship difficulties. Self-development may also be the reason for seeking therapy. Therapy provides an opportunity to explore and make sense of your difficulties in a safe, non-judgmental environment, to develop your self-understanding and improve your relationships.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
