My approach to child and adolescent anxiety therapy is first to create an environment in which they feel happy to engage in the process in a meaningful way.
The world facing our children and young people today is an extremely complicated one. Dealing with an unpredictable, and at times, chaotic environment, can test our mental and physical systems. The seeds of worry can be sown in a myriad of ways but nearly always ends up with the young person internalising their problems, which then manifest in increasingly problematic ways such as OCD, Tics, Self-Harming, and body image issues. Underlying all of these symptoms is a powerfully negative view of themselves which, if unchecked, can become overwhelming.

If you're looking for a therapist, it's likely that something within you is signalling the need for a change. This signal might have come in many forms: anxiety , low mood, self-criticism, challenges in your work or relationships, difficult feelings about your body or questions about your identity. It may sound strange to say but I believe there's something profoundly healthy in you having been able to generate and recognise this signal as well as seek out support. I aim to support you to make meaning of what you're experiencing and in doing so, help you feel prepared to recognise and face the challenges in your life.

These include; depression, anxiety , adjustment disorders, bereavement, eating disorders and compulsive behaviour (addictions).
During these difficult times of coronavirus and lockdown, I am offering sessions via the phone, Skype, and FaceTime. They are accepted methods also within the NHS, where I originally learnt to work with them. I am an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist having worked extensively in the NHS but now work privately. My background in the NHS has made me comfortable working within a multicultural context (LGBT and BME) with a very wide age group of clients (18 -90). I have also studied Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and can offer this separately.

I provide an accepting and empowering relationship, working collaboratively to explore what brings you to therapy, your hopes and your fears .
People come to counselling for many reasons; they feel stuck, lonely, lack direction or are engaging in unhealthy relationships to name but a few. Whatever your reason for seeking counselling it will be driven by a desire/need to change aspects of your life that no longer serve you. Taking the first step to reach out for support can feel scary and overwhelming yet demonstrates a huge amount of bravery. I believe we all want to be heard, seen and truly accepted for all of who we are. Counselling can be a safe place to allow yourself to experience this, to accept you are enough, as you are.

If you are neurodivergent, you are more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety , obsessive-compulsive disorder or phobias. You are more likely to experience suicidal ideations and struggle with low self-esteem and self-efficacy. You are probably diagnosed with more than one neurodevelopmental condition, which complicates the treatment plan and delays getting adequate support. Therefore I am not surprised that you might be looking for guidance and help. Book a free-of-charge consultation now!

Life’s challenges can sometimes weigh us down and stop us from being healthy, happy, and successful. Emotional issues such as addictions, anger, anxiety , depression, do not just make us feel bad, but they also jeopardize our futures. Furthermore, problems with families, friends, domestic partners, or spouses can leave us feeling distressed, lonely, and unworthy. Additionally, serious health conditions, financial troubles, loss of loved ones, and other crises can devastate us and make it difficult to get back on track.

Life can be very challenging and many of us can experience distress and confusion in different forms: relational difficulties, sexual and identity issues, loneliness, emptiness, intrusive thoughts and anxiety that seem to have no explanation.
“Psychotherapy is the attempt of two people to recover the wholeness of being human through the relationship between them” R.D. Lang. I am an established BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist and I do work with my clients referring mainly to an integrative approach, offering a broad set of tools deriving from different theories and schools. It gives me the chance to be flexible and to adapt my work to fit my client’s needs and requests. I do believe that each of us has an inner capacity for healing and my role is to shed light on it, supporting you to find and use the resources that you already have within yourself.
